In their squished position, Ara shifted nervously, her shoulder smashed against Cera's. She tried to put on her brave face. The tingling feeling returned, but she paid no attention to it.
"Hear what?" asked the Ixi.
The Kacheek pointed. "It sounded like it was coming from over here."
"Well, let's go check it out."
They wandered over to the wall and looked behind everything. Arathyne made no sound. The tingling was spreading all over her body, and she thought she felt it escape her shoulder into Cera, but how would she know?
"Maybe right here..." The Kacheek finally reached their niche. He leaned down and looked straight at them. Arathyne was waiting for him to pull them out of their hiding spot, but he just stood and walked further down the wall as if he hadn't seen them.
"Find anything? the Ixi asked. Silence passed, and Ara assumed the Kacheek had shook his head, because the Ixi continued, "Well, Jack, what did you expect? You think somebody was hiding in here that we missed?"
"Gee, sorry," Jack muttered.
"Look, man, we're going on break now anyway. You're working too hard. Let's go get you some coffee, hmm?"
"Mmm, yeah, coffee.. sounds great." The two of them walked out of an iron door and slammed it shut. Arathyne let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. The tingling feeling left as she poked her head out of the niche. Nobody else was there but her and Cera.

Cera was now in shock, first because something weird rushed over her body, then Ara disappeared, and last because the pets were less then two inches from finding them. She about screamed when Ara showed up again. When the coast was clear she dumped out of the niche and faced Ara, "No power, right...." She said annoyed that Ara hadn't told her before that she could make things invisible...

"Huh?" She blinked. What was she talking about? 'No power'... huh? Ara was officially confused.

Cera grew angrier, "Your joking.... You just turned invisible!!!" She said her voice rising, this was really getting old. She didn't lie to Ara why was she lying to her?

"In... in.." She couldn't say it. Invisible? No, no, that couldn't be right. She had no powers. Even the doctor that tested her for them said she didn't. "I did not! I have no powers!"

"Then how did that pink dude not see us!" She asked getting really frustrated now. "You know what, fine..." She said and turned around to go back out the door they had come in from. The one thing she hated was being lied to, she had too many bad experiences with lies from other people and she wasn't going to tolerate it...

"No, Cera, wait a second!" cried Ara, frustrated. She wasn't about to let the only person she ever thought could be a friend hate her. In her frustration, the air around them shook, and seemed to seal off all the doors. "Can't we just talk reasonably about this? I'm not lying to you! How can I lie about something when I'm oblivious to the truth?" I sighed. "When I was younger, Mom went and had my sisters and me tested for magic from the best in Neopia at that time. It cost her a lot just to hear that my sisters tested positive and I negative. I honestly did not know I could make things invisible. I promise!"

Cera jumped when the door slammed and faced Ara again, "Ok well how did my suitcase get fixed, how did that door just slam, how can you hear so well, and how did we become invisible?!?!" She said really confused, angry, and tired of all this.

Cera closed her eyes and let out a big sigh, trying to calm herself down a bit, "I'm sorry...." She said realizing she lost her temper for a moment, "I just can't stand people who lie or people who I think are lying..." She confessed walking back toward Ara.

She held up her hands. "Hey, I hear you," she said. "I hate liars. That's one of the many reasons I despise pirates - they're dirty, filthy liars. I had a friend one time. Her name was Janelle, and we were twelve. She seemed all nice and everything, and I told her my secrets which she'd promise to keep, and she'd blab them to the whole school the next day. She lied about it when I asked her. Eventually I found out the truth, and I stopped being friends with her. Actually, more than that - I attacked her. I beat her up real good before the principal came and took me away, and then Mom packed us up and we moved to Mystery Island."

Cera looked up and just had to laugh, "I see..." She said but then stopped smiling, "I have had worse experiences..." She said thinking back, "I am still now that clear on the truth today." She said after a pause, "It was a long time ago though sooo yeah..." She said when she finally made it back to her, "Ummm, so about this machine..." She said changing the subject.

"Yeah, what do you think it does?" Ara asked, glad the subject had changed and Cera wasn't angry at her anymore. Somehow, she cared and didn't like it when Cera was mad at her, the same when Lil was mad at her, unlike her uncaring indifference toward anyone else that was mad or yelling at her. She hated to disappoint her owner, and for some reason she didn't want to disappoint Cera either. Is this what it feels like to have a real friend? she wondered silently. "You know, other than turning pets pink?"

Cera examined the buttons and everything closely and then went to look in the barrels that the two other pets had left. "Hmmm lets see..." She said rolling one of the empty barrels into where the ray would fire and then went back to the console where all the buttons were. She looked at all the buttons and finally pushed one.
