A small smirk crept it's way onto Dimmitri's face as he closed his eyes, getting ready for the next couple steps he was about to take. Not that it took much mental preparation...He just liked to keep them on edge. In a small, delicate move, he brushed some sweat and the mix of white and black hair from his forehead in further preparation. With a swift, graceful bow, he reopened his cyan eyes and stepped into the nothingness that was before him.
The crowd gasped, like they always did, but Dimmitri grabbed the bar just in time, just like he always did, after all, it was routine. Sailing through the air on his trapeze, he knew what was coming, for it was the finale. In mid swing, he purposefully let go of the bar sending him straight into mid air with no safety net below. Dimmitri began to tumble in the air like those skilled Olympic divers as he plummeted toward the ground below. A wide grin was planted on his face and his black cape was flapping wildly behind him, making him appear like a madman...if he wasn't considered one already.
The crowd was on edge, not sure if this was part of the act or an act of suicide all in it's own...or could it be a combination of both? As Dimmitri neared within ten feet of the ground, the insane kougra just vanished, only leaving a puff of purple smoke behind in his place. The lights turned toward the higher trapeze area where somehow, Dimmitri managed to appear, sporting another one of his bows. And with that- he poofed again, signaling the end of his act tonight.
But where did he poof this time?
Outside the tent that was set up in the park of a large city, a figure appeared. A few stragglers outside the tent were startled by Dimmitri's sudden appearance but Dimmitri just ignored them and proceeded to lie down in the cool grass by the tent, listening to the sounds that echoed from inside. Although he had done the act probably over a hundred times, it still took a lot out of him energy wise. Staring up at the night sky always seemed to calm him from the adrenaline rush though.

Azura watched the kougra on the high platform, her bright aqua blue eyes followed his every step. He hesitated as she held her breath. She had only seen acts like this on the television where anything could be done with computers and stuff, but in real life.... It was a whole different story. The kougra became animated again after his brief pause and stepped off of the platform. The whole crowd stood up, hoping to get a better view. Several cameras flashed and everyone stopped breathing for those few seconds that he free fell. A sigh of relief came from the surrounding people as the kougra caught the suspending bar and swung across the tent but they quickly tensed up again when the bar became empty and the kougra was sent falling again. Azura nerved herself to watch though her mind told her to look away before the kougra went face first into the ground. Suddenly he was gone though. It became silent for a while as the assorted pets looked around for where the trapeze artist had gone. A younger lupe beside her pointed to the platform on the other side of the tent and everyone around began to catch on and clap. Cheers and laughter grew as the act ended and Azura gathered her stuff to leave.
She had planned on leaving earlier before all the traffic began but that never really worked out. People flooded the isles and doorways as soon as they spotted the kougra back on the platform and concluded that his act was over. Azura shuffled her way out behind them digging in her pockets for her cell phone and keys. Her fur was a solid light tanish color and the only markings on her body was the ones on her elbows and knees which were covered up by her long sleeve brown shirt and her khaki jeans. Her long dark brown hair was left down to hang pasted her shoulders. The only jewelry she wore was a couple of gold rings that hung loosely on her tail but where kept on by a tuff of brown fur.
Azura let out a small sigh as she finally made it to the circus tent doorway, she still had a long way to go for her car was practically on the other side of the world. She looked around once she was outside and slid passed a few people to take a short cut around the tent. She passed a few shady people, ignoring them as they watched her wearily, and kept her eyes locked straight ahead. She stayed like this up until she passed a second tent where a somewhat familiar kougra seemed to be relaxing. She stared at him as she approached, trying to figure out who he was and then it clicked, "Your the swinging guy..." She said her mind lost at what the 'swinging man' really was. She smile shyly and nodded, "I loved your act."

Dimmitri's eyebrow perked up enough to be seen above the mask as he saw the girl approach. Curiosity played with his mind as he watched her slowly come closer- almost making it awkward. With alert ears, he leaned forward and placed his hand to his chin, getting ready for what she had to say. A small smile graced his face and his eyes greeted her with a friendly invitation and he listened to what she had to say, even though it was a mere sentence.
The smile on his face grew into a grin. "Why thankyou, m'dear," Dimmitri said, his voice was low and holding a strange, unidentifiable accent in it. "It's always nice to hear compliments after a show," he added, now shifting his sitting position to a more upright stance. It always made him happy to hear that people enjoyed his act, as it would most people. "Are you a fan of magic?" he asked curiously.
((Sorry for waiting so long to reply ^^; ))

Azura nodded, accepting the gratitude that the kougra displayed. She thought about his question though, "Well, good magic is ok... Like your act, ya know? Harmless magic." She said with a small smile. She had known too many people with dark magic to say that she a 'fan' of all sorts of magic. She studied him more closely, not really able to get a good look when he was on 'stage'. He had been moving and swinging around too much. He seemed like a nice guy. He was clean cut and nicely dressed. Better than some of the other circus people around here. "I would ask you how you got out here when the last place I saw you was in midair but I figure that might ruin it..." She said with a sly smile. She now guessed that magic was involved since he had asked her about it.

Dimmitri just continued to watch her curiously as she continued to talk to him. Truly, he did enjoy seeing someone with the initiative to approach him after the show since so many were afraid of carnies...with good reason sometimes. "Oh, harmless, huh?" he said with a small smile that almost seemed to be hiding something darker but it soon faded and he added, "Yes, I could say my act is harmless." A short laugh was released when he heard her final statement and he stood up and stretched. Standing up, it became apparent that the kougra really wasn't all that tall. With a smooth stride, he walked past her toward the doorway of the tent. He was still within a talking range of the other, but he was staring out the tent doorway toward the line of trees at the end of the clearing in the distance. "Why of course I would never tell you," he laughed, "As cliche as it sounds, a magician never reveals his secrets."

Azura's expression turned thoughtful as he agreed with her on his act being harmless. She didn't ask him about it though and just smiled back shyly. Her cyan eyes followed him as he got up and blocked the doorway, staring out into the trees. "I understand." She said taking a step towards him and folding her arms across her chest. His back was to her now, even though he was still talking to her. She let out a small sigh, "Well I guess I should be going now... I just came over to compliment you on your act." She said and joined him at his side so that she could properly bid him a farewell, "I'm sure I'll be seeing you again though!" She smiled and held out a hand for him to shake goodbye.

Something about tonight seemed off in Dimitri's mind. Her had no clue why but he began getting really anxious and couldn't shake the feeling. However, he was a master at hiding emotions and worried expression never crossed his face. That was, until a few seconds later. "Goodnight, Ma'am," he said with his typical smile on his face. A large crack sounded and a speeding bullet whizzed just past Dimmitri, nicking his ear a bit. Startled, he dived to the ground, "Get down!," he yelled out to the girl and anyone else who could nearby who could hear. It seemed he had a reason to be worried after all.

Azura dropped to the ground, covering her arms over her head in surprise to the gunshot. She glanced over at Dimitri and noticed the blood that now splattered his face and clothing. A rolling, nauseous feeling rushed over her. She was never too fond of blood unless it was meant to be there... "What was that?" She asked, panic in her voice. She scooted over so that she wasn't in the middle of the doorway any more. Fear caused her heartbeat to quicken which didn't help the fact that she already felt sick.

Another bullet shot past, this time completely missing. "I-I have no idea," quivered the once articulate kougra over the screams that could now be heard from the others fleeing. The chaos that followed the gunshot made it hard to see where it came from but he decided to take no chances on his safety. However, with everyone running around like they were, he'd feel terrible leaving the girl here. "Grab my hand," he shouted with an extended paw. It was drastic, but it seemed necessary.

Azura looked at Dimmiri's hand, having no idea what was going on in his head but she was sure that whatever his plan was was better than where she was now. More bullets flew past them and Azura reached for his hand and held it tightly. Screams echoed through her head and the smell of blood was strong now. People were panicking making it hard to hear or even think with all the chaos around them now.

It would be odd for anyone who never experienced it before, the black emptiness of nothingness for a brief second. Dimmitri opened his eyes to find the two had been transported on the top of a a three story building not to far off from the scene. Quickly, he turned toward Azura to check if she was okay. "It worked," he said with a sigh of relief. He had never teleported someone else before.

It was odd for Azura, very odd... It was like being sucked though a tube that was only big enough for your foot. There was no sound, no light... Azura let out a scream but nothing was heard. She then found herself on a the roof of a nearby building. She was speechless, confused, and scared... "What-just-happened there?" She said after Dimmitri came over to check if she was ok, "What worked?" She asked, looking around at her new surroundings.

Dimmitri lifted and arm over his head as if to scratch his back in nervousness. "I-...I uh have never tried transporting someone else before...really..." he said as he stared off out into the chaos in the streets. How could something so innocent as a carnival turn into such a mess? His eyes drifted back toward Azura, "Are you alright though?" he asked unsure if she happened to loose something in the void or space or somehow be nicked by another bullet. Dimmitri himself didn't quite understand the black, empty void but he was always afraid that he might loose a body part or something within it.

Azura looked herself over, "Just a bit... surprised." She let and let out a big sigh. "So you teleported us?" She said joining him by the roof edge and looking out at the chaos below. It was hard to tell that a few minutes before everyone was having a good time and feeling perfectly safe while they watched other people do crazy stunts. She let out another sigh and looked away, she wasn't too fond of watching people run and scream and not being able to help.

Dimmitri sat down against the light gray gravel that layered the flat roof. He sat there, his knees both off the ground and his arms were wrapped around them as if hugging them tightly. A large sigh escaped his mouth, "Yeah...So much for my magic trick, right?" He let out a short laugh but it was less than reassuring.
