"E's'okay!" He replied with a mouth full of tuna; manners clearly didn't come easily to him. But considering the circumstances, who really cared? It wasn't like they were inside the Taj Mahal; they were inside an old house that probably didn't belong to either one of them, that's what he guessed, anyway. Taking this opportunity while the other hybrid was gone, he slid to the side, off the arm of the couch and onto the seat, even though he could have done that originally because Ieno had been sitting at the other end of the couch.
The bird on his shoulder squawked in protest at the sudden jostle, and moved himself to perch on the back of the couch, a much safer location. And all the while, the hybrid continued to lap up tuna happily; he would either use his fingers to scoop it out, or he would tongue it out. Either way, it got into his mouth somehow. When he had finished the three cans, he set empty remains off to the side. Diving his hand deep into the pocket of his pants, he pulled out his precious package of cigarettes, which he had stuffed in there the moment that he had begun running. The outside of the package was slightly damp from the rain, but the internal cargo, thankfully, remained safe. Pulling a single one from the cartridge, he brought it to his mouth. As he exhaled, a small flame emerged from his throat and lit the end of the cigarette. He then maneuvered the cigarette between two fingers, and inhaled deeply from the other end. Exhaling slowly, a smile overcame him, an incredibly stupid smile as every muscle in his body instantly relaxed and all tension disappeared. It was better than sex, in his opinion. Of course, since he had never had sex, he couldn't say with absolute certainty.

Ieno grabbed a bag of chips which were way pasted their sell by date. He didn't really care though, they might be a bit stale but they tasted fine. "So what all can you do?" Ieno asked and then found his question quite odd as he rethought it, "I mean like I'm guessing you can blow fire and fly. Is there any other abilities?" He asked, scanning the other hybrid down and noting the metallic spikes and other physical features. As he spoke his own petpet emerged from the darkness of his bedroom. The Darigan Drugal looked like a light blue mop without a handle, four legs and two horns. It zipped across the floor and stopped at Ieno's feet, looking up at him with two red eyes as if wanting something. Ieno dropped a few chips for him and walked over to the living room. Ieno took a seat in the well loved recliner and popped a few more chips in his mouth, awaiting the hybrid's answer.

Ku raised an eyebrow, taking ample time to answer the other hybrid's question. It was a rather odd question, he wasn't even sure he wanted to answer it. "Well, straight to final jeopardy, I suppose." Another minute passed while he tried to think. "I pretty much have the powers of both my parents, some of them I can do better than they can, and some don't come anywhere close to the kind of force they have… unfortunately. Yes, I can breath fire, got that from my father. Then I can control shadows and dark magic, teleport, and read body heat. Got them from my mother. But to tell ya the truth, I'm actually pretty young, I'm not even sure of my full potential yet." Though he appeared to be eighteen, he was actually much, much younger. "And what about you? What are your..erm, talents?"

Ieno thought for a while, thinking about how some of Ku's abilities might be able to help them with the zombie creatures. "Huh? Oh, I can fly and blow fire." He said casually, like it was nothing, "I also have a locking jaw, almost impenetrable skin, night vision, and I'm pretty strong..." He said knowing and not really caring that Ku was better than him in more than a few categories. "Yeah.... He said still thinking, "Can you see the zombies with your body heat detector thing?" He asked wondering how that worked. Being able to control shadows could also help too...

"That it?" Ku asked, giving a confused yet pathetic glance toward his acquaintance. "Well heck, I can do that, 'cept for the lockin' jaw and night vision." Yes, Ku liked to brag, obviously. He was proud of what he was, yet at the same time, hated himself. Because although his powers were great, they came with a high price, a price which he hated his parents for. "And no, I can't see zombies with my 'heat detector thing'. Zombies don't have body heat. If they did, I woulda seen that one and known it was there before I went inta the gas station, instead of runnin' out like an idiot on fire." Inhaling deeply from the cigarette, he avoided the urge to curse Ieno out; the last thing he needed at a time like this was an enemy. "Sorry pal, but the most I could do would be ta take care of 'em after they'd already been found."

"Well sorry, when I was your age I was the latest and greatest thing out there as well... Seems they've gotten better..." Ieno said rolling his eyes at the juvenile, "And I wasn't quite sure how your heat thing worked..." He said and shrugged, leaning back against the chair and sinking into it slightly, now wanting the peace and quiet he was used to. He was already getting frustrated with another normal creature as his company. He noticed that Ku was feeling the same way. He was starting to doubt they could actually work together and fix all of this if they couldn't even go a day without getting on each other's nerves.

"My age," he flashed half an amused smile. "Heh, you don't know the half of it." He was even younger than he looked, much, much younger than he looked. "But yeah, I know what cha mean. Every generation is improved upon in some way, and I'm sure Her next little creation will be far more powerful than I am now. And who knows, maybe she'll actually be able to control the next one."
Shaking his head slightly, he took one final inhale from the cigarette, as it was burning down to the filter. He put it out by pressing the still smoking end into his hand, and then placed the bud inside one of the empty cans of tuna. "'Course, I'll admit that cha prolly got more experience than I do. So even if my powers are theoretically stronger, you prolly know how to use yours better." The cigarette must have relaxed him a lot to get him to spout out a compliment. And on that note, he reached back into his pocket and pulled out the cartridge again. Grabbing another cigarette himself first, he held the cartridge out to Ieno, as if to offer him one without actually saying anything.

Ieno nodded as if saying thanks when he took one of the offered cigarettes. "Yeah we all have our strengths and weaknesses, I guess. It's just figuring them all out that's the hard part." He said and lit his cigarette the same way Ku had done before. "Right now we need to figure out how to put all of our abilities together to fight off those zombie things...." He said and got up to look out the window. It was pitch black outside and every time silence fell over the two in conversation, screams and growls could be heard from the darkness. Ieno inhaled deeply and let it all out in a sigh, looking back over at Ku.

Ku lit the cigarette, "Well if you ask me," and inhaled from it deeply, "I think we should blow 'em all ta hell." He clearly didn't give a crap that these zombies used to be real people at one point in time; he didn't even know if they could be saved. Of course, if they did kill everyone, that would mean it would just be him and Ieno for the rest of their lives. He loved solitude as much as the next guy, but he wasn't sure if even he could handle having only one other functioning being to confide in. He would never get laid in his life. "On second thought, maybe that ain't such a good idea." But unfortunately, he didn't have any good ideas. He was no scientist, far from it; if there was a cure for this zombie-ism, he'd never find it himself.

Ieno laughed when Ku changed his mind, "Yeah that was my first idea too... It didn't seem so good when I thought into it though." He ran a hand though his hair as he thought about it. This wasn't the first time he had given this subject a good thought but now that he knew that there might be other people, other hybrids, out there and still alive that kind of gave him some hope that they could do something. "There might be more of us... I mean I have met other hybrids so maybe we can see if we can find them... Or we can fight, just the two of us. Or... We can just sit here an do nothing." He said and let out another puff of smoke, "But that option is on the bottom of my list, I've already been doing that for too long and I think it's time I actually did something." he said with a slight groan to his voice. He just didn't feel motivated to go against all those creatures, even with someone else on his side.

"Too bad we can't just turn them zombies into ta hybrids, that way they'd be immune and maybe even change back." The words were out of his mouth before he had a change to think about them. It wasn't a bad idea, actually; too bad he didn't think it was a good idea after he said it. "And out of all the options ya gave me, I say we do all three. First, we chill, at least until we get some rest. Then I say we fight, and while we're fighting we can search for others like us. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll come across someone who knows how ta stop this thing." Ku looked toward Ieno, waiting for a reaction, waiting to see it he would agree. He couldn’t say he was crazy about the idea of working with someone else, but he had worked by himself for a long time, and so far that wasn’t working out very well.

"Yeah we definitely need rest if we are going to do any fighting anytime soon." Ieno agreed, his mind now occupied by Ku's first idea though. "But what if we injected some of those things with some of our blood... I know that won't change them but it might fight off the infection." He suggested, thinking about it some more, "and if it works then we'll just use the one that we cured to cure the others..." Ieno smiled proudly and finished the cigarette. "Eh, it's just a thought... It probably won't work but what other choices do we have?"

“Ya know, that’s not such a bad idea. We’re immune, so maybe our immunity would be passed on ta them. It’s definitely worth a try…..Waaait, was that your idea or my idea?” Ku shrugged, it didn’t really matter whose idea it was – as long as they had an idea and it was something they could actually accomplish... But could they really accomplish this? A nagging thought plagued Ku’s mind, and before Ieno could answer his first question, he came out with another. “Erm, I don’t wanna sound like a downer, but is that even gunna be possible? I was just thinkin’, ya know, about how you said you had impenetrable skin, then I said I had impenetrable skin... And, yeah, how we gunna get the blood out? If I work at it hard enough I can make myself bleed, but I have a feelin’ that any needle would break if ya tried ta stuff it in me... unless that needle was coated in silver-nitrate.” He finally realized he was droning on and on without coming to any conclusion, so he shut up and waited for Ieno to offer a suggestion.
