lol. So I'm guessing the setting is one of Shenkuu's ports or something? Like a busy market port, sometime around lunch. Unless you have a different idea.

Oh, and incase you were wondering, Lori is basically normal anthro except for his bottom half, which is a peo's tail. (:
Apparently peophins have the ability to 'float' out of water, so I'll use that until I can think of a better way for him to travel out of water.

((Let's say this is pre-Devastation, maybe even pre-date-with-Umber, so Trei can flirt a little >3 That'll make her 15, so... uh, subtract 2 years off Lori's age and that's how old he is now :3))

Sitting against the fountain with a book propped in her lap, the teenage fire xweetok paid very little attention to the rest of the people bustling about Shenkuu. She barely noticed the sounds of yet another ferry coming into port, and looked up only briefly when people were getting off. She looked down, but then back up quickly; who was that she had seen??

An extremely pretty blue acara was walking past her, and the xweetok was instantly intertested. She put her nose back into her book and then, carefully, peered into the mind of the acara. She pushed away anything irrelevant to her search, but carefully, so the acara didn't detect anything. Finally, and just her luck, she spotted what she was looking for, so she deemed it safe to flirt. Good, Trei thought in relief. I was getting pretty bored.

She stood up, put the book at her side, and looked at the acara, who turned to look at the fountain. "Hullo," said the xweetok, taking a step closer. "I'm Trei. You're looking quite lovely today."

The acara giggled and blushed, then said, "Ohh, I dunno about that...." She laughed again and then held out her hand. "I'm Ella," she said. "Nice to meet you, Trei."

"Pleasure's all mine, Ella," Trei said saucily, making Ella giggle again. "So where are you staying?"

"My cousin's house down the road."

"I know everybody who lives here. Who's your cousin?"

"Mackaela Weston, do you know her?"

"Do I? M'dear, everybody knows Mackaela."

"Good, because, I have no idea where she lives," Ella admitted with a blush. "Could you possibly lead me there?"

"But of course," Trei said with a fake French accent. Ella giggled again and they began to walk.

"Hey!" said a voice loudly to the ferry driver. "Just what do you think you're doing?"

A young male Peophin was in the water, complaining loudly. His powerful tail waved back and forth slowly, keeping himself waist-up above the water. The net he had been repairing lay in tatters across the bay, parts of it stuck to the ferry.
They argued in Shen for a few moments, the ferry driver's case being that he really shouldn't have been repairing a fishing net in the middle of a busy port. Lori retorted that though the port was almost empty half an hour ago, and said half an hour's work was drifting into the next bay, the ferry driver really should have watched where he was going.
After that he promptly pulled himself up out of the water and onto the jetty, his tail hanging over the side.
The sun glinted off a dog-tag hanging around the male's neck, as it did on his golden face-plate and his wet, orange hair which was usually in a proud mohawk. The peophin was very well built, and his stance was proud and relaxed.
He leaned back on his hands and wondered dimly what he was going to tell the fisherman about the net, especially since he'd already been paid for it. Lori's sea-green eyes glimmered and wandered to a pair of teenagers who were about to walk right past him. I wonder if they saw me yelling, he thought anxiously.

Of course, Trei had heard the yelling, but not the actual words of the argument. She was, in fact, so into flirting with Ella, that she walked right into the Pheophin. She fell down and Ella gasped, asking if she was all right.

"I'm fine," she grumbled, sitting up and rubbing her back.

Lori felt the bump and turned quickly. "Ohmygod, are you alright?" He sat up and looked over her, before pulling himself into a standing postion and helping her up. "I'm soo sorry!" His voice was slightly higher than average for a guy, but right now it was mostly concerned.

Back on her feet, she dusted herself off and then noticed for the first time the Pheophin's voice. She couldn't help but laugh a little. "It's okay," she said, "no big deal. Really."

"Oh, well that's great!" He smiled, showing even, white teeth. "I'm Lori, it's nice to meet you." He held out his hand to shake hers. His hair was starting to dry and returning to its slight-mohawk style.

Trei laughed nervousy and shook his hand. Why was this loser still talking to her? Realizng how surprisingly snobbish her thougts sounded, Trei felt a bit ashamed, and said, "Nice to meet you too, Lori. I'm Trei. I'm terribly sorry if I sounded kind of rude."

Ella smiled and said, "My name's Ella. Nice to meet you too."

Lori grinned. "You didn't." A breeze ran through the harbor, ruffling everyone's hair. Lori recognised Ella - "Hey, weren't you on the ferry?" - he'd seen her briefly in the background between simming out the way of the ferry and arguing with the driver - "Are you new here?"

"Ummmmmm, yeah, I'm here visiting my cousin," Ella said, seeming a little annoyed that Lori came and interrupted her and Trei's conversations.

"She's lost so I'm showing her around," Trei laughed. "What about you, you new here?"

Lori laughed. "Honey, are you serious? I've been here since I was a kid. What about you? I don't think I've seen you here often. Then again, it is Shenkuu. Enough people here to lose anyone in a crowd."
