There are certain people who, if you say their name, people know who you're talking about. Based on the audience, the person in question has a set level of popularity, ranging from Who? to Ridiculously Well-Known.
In the online world, we have certain people who's popularity is very varied. On Runescape, nearly everybody knows who Zezima is, but I'm probably the only one here at Neoplay to know who he is. I'm probably also the only one here to know who the Grandmother is, from World of Warcraft. Some of you may know off of Neopets arttimo/albinoshadow or ssjlitegirl.
Now, on DA, 97% of the population knows who snapesnogger is.
And here within Neoplay, Sarah and Starling has over 20 people watching them on DA. Jukie has 12 or something.
My question is, HOW. How do you guys get so popular? >-> Is it art trades? Giving random fandom pics to random people? HOW??

Nearly everyone who watch me on DA are either in neoplay or friends from school (krystal-kun, kibasgal500, RZwhatever her user name is, etc.). I don't know wanyone else on DA well.

ummm, I have you guys... and then other random pple who I've met on neo and then my real friends, which I have like 6 of and then the others are just random people who like to stalk me and never post or anything which annoys me like crazy  buuut yeah -shrug-

I don't know how people get popular, it's usually through being humorous or creative. I make most of my RL friends laugh, and I've got a large group of friends.
I don't have many best friends though, i.e. I'm dating the best friend I've ever had.

look at it this way, you have over 1000 pv and only 19 deviations, I have 2000 pv and 95 deviations... soooo yeah you were doing a lot better than me at 19 deviations...

Yeah, so you have more pageveiws per deviation than me. I'm also the only one of the three of us that watced more people then they are watched. I don't really care about how popular I am because I draw what I want I and draw for fun. It's not like I need other people to say its good. I criticize myself enough.

I'm just saying that if anybody wants to have 10 bajillion people watch them and have 2000 favs on a pic three seconds after you post it, then you need to start with fan art. Then, you can draw stuff like what blackeri and saehral do.
Fortunately, I have a lot of fanart ideas in mind.
And Yes, but "popularity" comes with additional things. The more well-known and well-liked you are, the more power to you. And if you don't remember my Shout it Out, or didn't read it, it clearly states on there "I AM POWER HUNGRY". So it's kinda important to me. :/

Pageviews per day: 7.28 There's mine. I watch ALOT (too many, actually) of people. My watchers are kinda divided into a lot of groups. There's you guys, of course, and then I have my real life friends, then I have my other friends from neopets, then my Muse buddies, then my plain deviantart friends - they either commented randomnly on one of my deviations or I found them and commented on them, and we eventually grew to become friends. Another way how I get watchers is i befriend my friend's friends. If I like their work, I just start talking to them. 8) I draw very little fanart, but the stuff I do draw usually gets a little bit more attention than other stuff. |
