When he heard the scream, his pulse quickened more. He could taste delicious malice and greed as he rushed toward the green.
When he reached there, he slowed to a stop, and looked around. There, he saw, was an oddly perfect-circle body of water too small to be a lake yet too big to be a pond. He came upon a darigan Kourga lying on his stomach. He bent down. He wasn't dead. He looked around and noticed an electric Gellert lying on her back with smoke rising leisurly from her body not too far away. He frowned and looked back to the Kourga. He had a powerful energy emitting from him. Too bad he wasn't dead.
Then he grinned wickedly. He observed his scythe. Though it was a tool used to reap the dead back to live, it was still a weapon. If he killed this weak Kourga right now and brought him back, he could take the energy and make him but his mindless slave with no free will. He raised his scythe, readying himself for the strike and blood splatter when he plunged it down. He began to bring it down.

Strips just lay there; seemingly oblivious to everything that was going on around him. But he knew; he could feel his clock ticking down. He had been around death long enough to know it was about to happen again, and he knew his time was about to come to an end if he did nothing. Honestly, he wouldn't have minded going like that; being stabbed. However, he had come so close; he wasn't ready to die yet. He pitied the poor soul who thought they could stab him in the back, literally and figuratively.
He screamed something in that mumbo jumbo of his that no one but himself would understand before jerking upright and onto his feet. He was quick considering the condition he was in, and had clearly gotten a second wind from something. He grabbed the blade of the scythe with his right hand and the throat of this monkey-like creature in his left; which happened to be the stronger of his two hands. Though he may have been weak now, he was still a force to be reckoned with. He pushed the scythe away so it couldn't be pushed into his body while he stood there, though still held onto it. And in doing so, the scythe cut deeply into his hand, causing blood to pour down his arm. He didn't care though; he could hardly feel it. Abby was probably right about him being addicted to pain, because if anything he liked the feeling. "I wouldn't be doing that if I were you" he snarled. He stared into the monkey-like creature with blood red eyes, though they weren't his normal eyes. No, now they had changed and now the whites of his eyes and his pupils had turned to red; which gave him a demonic appearance. His eyes did absolutely nothing when they were like this; merely made his true violent nature obvious.

The Gelert sat up weakly, shaking her head. She looked over to the source of loud gibberish she'd heard. At the sight of the blood on the Kougra's hand and at his feet, she panicked. In her panic, she autonomously sent a bolt of lightning hurtling. It hit the scythe's blade and stabbed into it, the energy of the bolt seeming to press its way inside. In a matter of seconds the whole bolt was in and nothing happened. Then, an explosion of electricity ran all throughout the weapon and sinking into the fur of the Kougra through his hand on the blade and the Mynci through his hand on the rod.

Strips screamed in pure and utter pain. Sure he may have liked most pain, but that was way too much, even for him. It didn't help matters that he had been holding onto the metal part of the scythe; the mynci had been lucky enough to be holding onto the wood. And the sheer pain of the incident had caused Strips to release his grip on both the blade and the mynci's throat and drop to his knees, leaving him to stare up at the mynci with the same pure red eyes. Though they didn't hold the same anger and rage as they had before; now they just looked defeated. He knew the bolt had come from behind him, though he didn't have enough strength to turn his head and see exactly where it had come from. He hung his head a little, causing his semi-long hair to fall around his face, and he gripped his right arm with his left. If this was it, he only had one thing left to say. "If you're going to kill me, grant me a warrior's death."

The Gelert winced. "Sorry!" she called. She quickly began the run over there. She knocked the Mynci's scythe out of his grip with a smack of the back of her hand, electricity running through it to make him drop it. She went on her knees and put a hand on the Kougra's back. "Are you hurt too terribly?" she asked him gently.

The shock of electricity was enough to startle him out of nearly dropping his weapon. The Kourga's grip on him and his scythe released; he dug the pole of his scythe into the earth, hanging on so as to not fall off. The electricity had been an attack he had not seen coming.
He heard a loud, "Sorry!" from a female voice. He looked over. The Gelert with the smoke was running towards him and the Kourga. Amazingly, she managed to knock the weapon out of his hand and push him to the ground with the electricity used to knock aside the scythe. He fell to the ground and lay there for a moment, deprived of energy and water. He hated feeling this much weakness!

Strips had his eyes wide open for the longest time; preferring to see the end coming rather than hide behind closed eyelids. But the sorry had confused him; he had assumed that the attack had been intentional. He was even more surprised when he could feel a hand on his back, and forced his head to turn and to look into the gelert's eyes. Why did she care how badly he was hurt? That didn't happen very often. And as he stared at her he could feel his eyes slowly changing back to normal. "I'm fine" he lied and looked towards the mynci lying on the ground, nodding towards him, "Help him". Strips wasn't one to hold a grudge; what's done is done and was meant to happen. And he had to give the mynci credit; he had gotten closer than most others had. And the mynci and the gelert together had almost succeeded where all others had failed; if it hadn't been for the female's compassion, that is.

She looked at him for a moment longer, scanning his eyes for a hint of a lie. She could see it. But she needed to help the Mynci, too, even if he had tried to kill him. She stood and walked over to the Mynci.
She crouched by his side. "I know how to heal, to an extent. I can heal that gash in his hand that your scythe made. I could also heal you both of the shock I gave you on accident. I didn't mean to, but your attack panicked me, and my panicking causes bad things to happen."
She sighed, and made sure she was rid of all electric aftershocks before daring to touch the water. She dipped a finger in, and nothing happened, so she pulled a small glass bottle from the pouch hanging around her waist and held it under the water, top facing up. She uncorked it and the water filled it after the air bubbles were released. Once it was full, she pulled it out and closed her eyes. She searched inside herself for the blue lightning, the healing energy, straying far from the white lighting, the hazardous energy. She found the blue lightning and pulled it to her hands, which began to crackle with blue electricity. The blue encircled the bottle and sank through the glass into the water. It flashed a deep blue, then settled to regular clear water.
She took it to the Kougra. "Can you drink it yourself?" she asked.

While the gelert was over near the mynci, Strips had pulled himself backward until he was resting with his back comfortably against a tree. He wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to what she was doing to the water. He could see her doing something out of the corner of his eye, but he was too busy addressing his hand to really care. He had untied his shirt from his wrist and wrapped it around his hand, then leaned his head back and closed his eyes.
He hadn't expected to hear the gelert's voice again so soon, though he was somewhat glad he did; if he heard her that meant he was still alive. He opened his eyes and looked up at her, eyeing the water. Hadn't he told her to take care of that monkey first? However, he wasn't in much of a mood to argue with her about her actions. His right hand was pretty numb from the electricity and the wound, and his left was shaking severely, though he thought he could manage. Someone offers you water in the middle of the desert you don't tell them you're too tired to drink it. He thanked her before taking the bottle, downing about half of it before handing it back to her, and then closing his eyes once more.

She took the bottle, refilled it and purified it with the healing energy before giving it to the Mynci. After she gave it to him, she walked over, and picked up his scythe. It seemed to pulse with dark magic. She shivered, but it wasn't from a drop in temperature because, if anything, the temperature was higher. She looked up and squinted. It was about noon, and hot.

(Wow, erm.. *i dunno what to call you ^^;* your pet is really nice. )
He was gulping down the water when he noticed she had taken his scythe. He threw the bottle aside, what little water remaining spilling out onto the grass, and ran to grab his scythe. He gripped it tight. "Do not touch my scythe," he snarled.
(By the way... Happy 2007!!!)

Strips quickly opened his eyes when he heard the snarling outburst coming from the mynci. In a way, he couldn't blame him; he wouldn't want anyone touching his weapons either. However, that weapon had been used to try and kill him, and if it were given back there was nothing stopping the mynci from trying it again. "Hey!" He snarled as he jumped to his feet. "I swear on my father's grave if you harm one hair on her head, I'll crush all of your bones into a fine powder." He stepped towards the two of them and eyed the mynci with pure red eyes. He had to keep himself from chuckling at how childish the two of them looked.

He was still holding his weapon, trying to take it from the Gelert, who's grip was really strong. He then smiled wryly when the Kourga spoke. He started to laugh.

Strips's facial expression never changed, even when the mynci started laughing at him. He saw laughter only as a way to hide true emotions, mostly fear or anger, and therefore saw no need to make another threat. But if the mynci thought he was joking, he was mistaken; he was being dead serious. Of course, even Strips knew that the gelert really didn't need his help. He got the full blow of what she could do; he knew she could protect herself without his help.

She didn't understand what was so funny. She would not let go of the weapon, determined to keep it from the Mynci so he would not harm them again, but made sure to keep her electric buildup under control.
