He scrambled into the boat, thrilled that they were finally leaving this godforssaken ice berg! "Row, you idiot, row!" he yelled at Will.

He didn't even bother with Niko's calling him an idiot again. He ignored it and rowed like a madman north and upsea.

After about six hours or so, Niko spoke. "You ever think of becomin' a pirate?" he asked suddenly.

"Nooo," he said slowly, "not really. why?"

"Because, you're one tough cookie. I was thinking, if you wanna join my crew, you could."

[Macamazey]

Will paused, then started to laugh. "Are you insane? I'd be a terrible adition to your crew! No, we'll hit the nearest port or whatever and I'm staying on dry land."

"Port? HAHAHA! No no, we're sailing right back to my ship!" Before Will could aske what he meant, Niko pointed up ahead. Through the distance came the great Wind's Defiance in all her glory. Niko whistled. "Ain't she just a beaut, Willefethen? Onward!"

For once Will didn't complain. He rowed forward to the Wind's Defiance until they got there, his arms sore and aching from all the work. He saw all the pirates up above and shivered. "Well I guess this is where we part," he said blandly.

"Part? Nonsense! You're coming up with me!" Niko whistled to his crew. "Oy! Get a ladder down!"

"wHo's there?!" someone shouted.
"It's the cap'n, idiot!" someone else yelled. "We've got it!"

A ladder unrolled down the side of the ship. Niko grabbed it. His arm was feeling better, but he had pretended it hadn't just to avoid rowing duty. "Get up," he comannded Will. He needed to get up first or else he could leave or drop off without his noticeing.

Will sighed, annoyed, and climbed up the ladder, frightened by the leering pirates wen he got up there. He rolled into the ship so Niko cold get in, and laughed nervously.

Niko got in. He shooed the pirates back to their stations and gathered up the ladder.

Eventually they were sailing back to Krawk Island. Niko had given Will some new clothes, a light yellow t-shirt and denim jeans, both torn at the hems, and a blue bandana with large white dots with holes for his ears, which he made Will wrap around his head and tie in the back.

The days went by much more quickly. And Niko, wearing a baggy white shirt that clasped at his wrists, a black overcoat, rings on almost every finger, a gold hoop ring in his right ear, scruffy black boots, a belt that hung like a sash around his shoulder, a sword and a gun at his side, and a smirk on his face, could only laugh at the sky.
