Phyn nodded, tears in her eyes. Behind her the buzzing had come to an end with the thumping of her parents landing. She turned grinning sadly and ran into their hug.
"Phyn, thank goodness you're safe," her mother exclaimed, a matching amulet to Phyn's dangling from her neck. The two gems had stopped ringing and returned to their normal green coloring.
"I know, Mom, I know. I'm sorry I ran off," the yellow ruki answered, tears running down her face as the three continued the breath crushing hug. After a few second of this she started feeling really guilty, with Checkr and Lue standing behind her. She struggled out of the hold, looking up at her parents.
"Mom, Dad, this is Lue and Checkr. They, well, they're part of everything that happened to me today, and um, lastnight." It sounded odd, putting a time to the whole ordeal.
Her parents shared concerned glances, "Well, we came here to get you Phyn, do your friends need to go home as well?" Her mother asked, giving them a smile that seemed a bit off. Probably she wasn't expecting them, Phyn thought, looking up at her dad who was hoolding her hand, before casting a helpless glance to Checkr and Lue.

Lue shook his head, "No... I uh, don't need to go home right now..." He said not wanting to make the situation more awkward. The truth was that he didn't have a home... Not yet at least... He wanted to find somewhere to stay with for a while so he wouldn't always have to fend for himself but he hadn't quite found that yet. He was hoping to stay with Checkr a while longer before she had to go too. He actually liked the company of these girls and would actually miss them though he would never admit that... "I guess I'll see you around..." He told Phyn, looking down at the ground.

"Stupid Phyn," Daani found herself grumbling. "Stupid Checkr. Stupid, stupid Lue!" A hole smashed into the ground in front of her. She curled forward into a ball, forehead touching the sand, knees and fists tucked under her. She trembled with rage and sorrow.
Damn everybody! she thought bitterly. Checkr for feigned kindness, Phyn for outright hatred, and Lue... Lue especially, for making me feel this way! Curse them!
And then she sat up suddenly and let out a bloodcurdling, heart-wrenching wail, much like the one she'd tried to make when she got her memories back but not yet her voice. Once the wail died down, she curled back into a ball and sobbed.

Checkr stood, a bit stunned by the whole occurence. She had run a bit towards Daani, but stopped when Lue came back. She turned to Phyn's parents, rather ashamed at her ragged appearance, and shuffled a bit, trying to hide her torn pants and muddy shoes.
"No.. No.. that's okay.. I...I don't have to go home either.." the kyrii said, forcing a smile, though noting much to her dismay her eyes were starting to well up with tears. Don't cry, Don't cry, Don't cry, You can't cry.. Don't- "I mean, not yet.." she added suddenly, also looking at the ground. "We can still visit... right?" she asked in a pleading tone, directing it to Phyn and her parents aswell - they seemed nice enough but she could never be sure.
Hearing a wail, distant but very audible, she turned her head suddenly, "I think that's Daani!"

The two adults exchanged concerned glances, and Phyn looked up at them, "Can they visit?" the young girl asked, and her mother replied, seeming a bit unsure of herself.
"Of course darling, but they do know we live on Mystery Island, right? It may be hard for them to come see you."
Phyn nodded, but got out her sketch book anyway. She tore a peice out, ripping that one in two, and scribbled her address on them. Halfway through, she heard the scream in the distance, and tears welled to her eyes. She tried gulping down the tears. You can't so anything now... its too late, and she left on her own choice, Phyn thought, doing her best to convince herself these were true.
She finished writting and handed one to each of her remaining friends, looking sadly at the ground. "I guess we're going then?" she asked her parents, who nodded gravely, her father once mroe looking over the two critically.
"Well, we shouldn't leave them out here alone, so why don't you two come back with us to Meridell, at least," he said matter of factly, glancing curiously in the direction the scream had come from.

Lue shook his head again, "No, I'm fine..." He said sternly, he wanted to go look around for Daani some more after they left expecially when he head that scream.

She told them to not chase her, but would they? Somehow, deep inside her, she hoped and prayed they would, they would chase her, but most of her said, no, I'm better off alone. Oh, how untrue that was. She stood up and walked across the hot sand and away from the forest.

"You live.. in Mystery Island?" Checkr said quietly, devastated at the news. She took the paper, and carefully folded it as if it was the most valuable thing in the world, before placing it gingerly in her pocket. She bowed her head, throwing her hair in her face, to hide the fact that her watery eyes were about to spill.
"No, thanks. Our friend is out there." she said, voice wavering, "We better go find her..."

"Actually," Lue said, looking up at Phyn's parents, "If you can see her up there do you think you could let Phyn try to talk to her..." He then looked at Phyn, "Just tell her that we are looking for her and you can also say goodbye..." He shrugged, not knowing how girls usually parted. He always thought there would be lots of tears and hugging but fortunatly there wasn't, yet.

Phyn glanced at Lue, then the direction of the scream, the back to her parents.
"Oh, can I? She can't be too far away. And we don't know...I mean she didn't say goodbye or anything." She pleaded, and her parents exchanged exhasperating glances.
"I don't know, darling. I don't want you wandering off again. You only tol us you'd be wandering around Meridell when you left, and look what happened." Her mother said, a hand on Phyn's shoulder.
"But that wasn't....but I didn't know, and Daani needed help. Please, can I go?" the yellow ruki asked again, looking to her dad solely this time. He sighed, leting fo of her hand.
"Alright, but I'm watching you, just in case."
Phyn nodded, smiling sadly. She slipped her bag off, handing it to her mother, and her father started walking toward the sound, waiting for her. Phyn turned to Lue and Checkr.
"I'll tell her, just hang on," she said, and taking a running start jumped to the air with her father, the two of them scanning the ground for any signs of their elusive friend.

In that time Daani had, without realizing, manipulated the environment to get her to a near city quickly, and changed it back. What would have been a days-long trek took only several minutes and thoughts. She arrived in Sahkmet, a desert city full of bustling people in colorful clothes. The heat was overwhelming, so she sought a small bit of shade and fainted there.
