Ammazare Faelyn brushed her white bangs out of her eyes and flipped the page. The book she was reading was on Lupe anatomy, one of the many subjects of which she found supremely fascinating. At age twenty, Amma was extremely well-read and had gotten her master's degree with honors before she turned seventeen.
The subway rolled along through the tunnels. She'd been on it for a little over three hours now, and her stop was still a good two more away.
Amma was an odd-looking creature. A mix between a Lupe and an Eyrie, she often got curious glances from others and was used to it. Her Eyrie wings were pathetically small, however, and could not fly her anywhere; her fingers were Eyrie claws and her legs Lupe legs. Her face was more Lupish, though her tail was Eyrie. People had a hard time figuring out what she was.
Excuse me, miss, but... what are you?
That was the first thing most people asked her when they saw her, if they had the guts to talk to her. "Maybe next time you should try asking for a name first? Just a thought," she murmured under her breath, her green eyes narrowing behind her glasses. She flipped the page.

Lue sat, arms crossed, on one of the benches in the station. His train was to arrive any moment now... His blue eyes glanced down at the ticket in his hand; "Arrival Time: 9:45am" it read. He let out a sigh and then looked up at the large digital clock that was mounted on the wall, "9:56". He straightened himself up, rustling his small black bat-like wings and took out his mp3 player from his pocket, turning it to a preferred song and pressing play.
The good thing was that he would have no problem getting on the train. If it ever arrived that is. The station was crowded but for some reason no one was around him. This was no surprise to him, he was used to the judgmental glances and the large amounts of space people gave him. It was like he had a sickness or something and no one wanted to touch him. That's what you get for being different though. People think your some kind of monster.... He sighed again, this time a small cloud of smoke occupied his breath.
The hybrid seemed to get excited when the rumbling of the train sounded through the tunnel of the station. He got up, turned up the volume on his music and grabbed his backpack. The train zoomed in and then came to a screeching stop. It waited a few moments before the doors slid open, letting the people off and on to the train.
Lue took a seat near the back of the car where there seemed to be less people. One passenger gave him a surprised glance which he ignored but then looked away at someone else and then back again at him. He glanced back between him and this other person a few times before Lue actually turned his head to see who he was being compared to. A rather stunning creature was sitting a few seats behind him. The thing that interested him most about her was that he couldn't tell what species she was.
A small smile crept on his face as he looked at her a few moments longer. She never looked up at him during that time though. She was too interested in the book that rested on her lap. Every now and then she would brush the white hair from her face and turn the page but not once did she glance up at the staring eyes around her. He hated to admit that he too was one of the ones staring but his curiosity about her was too great to look away. 'Look up... Look up...' he thought hopefully.

The train had stopped to let people on and off, but she barely noticed. After a while, though, during which she was examining a drawing of a Lupe's wings, she felt eyes on her that were intensely unmoving. Somehow, they seemed to will her to look up. Slightly annoyed at the disturbance, she looked up, only to see a Lupe...scorchio... thing staring at her. Somehow, he struck her as very, very familiar.
"Hello there," she said politely ((in her british accent! XD)). "You just get on?"

Lue jumped and looked away for a second as their eyes met. Her soft voice sounded over the train's clicking and rumbling without a problem, it was like all other sound seized to exist as she spoke. A big lump formed in his throat as he tried to find the words to answer her simple question. He opened his mouth to say something but ended up just nodding instead. He looked back over at her. Her bright green eyes were looking up at him with a sense of familiarity. He knew for a fact that he hadn't seen this her before yet she looked at him as if she knew him.
He felt awkward just looking at her and felt like he needed to do something else. Without thinking he ran a hand through his curly black hair and managed a smile. He was amazed that he did this for he felt as if his muscles had all frozen into place. "Uhhh, um.... I'm uh.. Lue...." He said, stumbling to get the words out of his mouth.

"Lue?" The name flashed through her mind. She remembered a Lupe-Scorchio hybrid named Lue back in the lab... Did he not remember her? By the look on his face, he apparently didn't. She decided not to scare him and act like she didn't know him, either, though she very much did. She smiled. "Interesting name. I'm Amma. Mind if I sit by you?"

Lue looked down at his seat, "Uh, no go ahead..." he said scooting towards the window and putting his backpack on his lap. He stuffed his mp3 player into the front pocket of his bag and then looked over at her with a smile. He couldn't believe there was another hybrid. The idea still shocked him. He examined her as she gathered her belongings to get ready for the move. She had to be part Eerie. Her clawed hands and tail gave that away. The two small wings also were a hint. Her lupin ears and face proved that her other parent was a lupe. He felt a sudden rush of excitement and his smile grew bolder "Amma's quite a name as well." He said trying to make small talk.

She didn't have much with her, just some books which she put into a small bag. She carried it over with her to sit by him. She put it next to her and turned to him with a warm smile. She couldn't believe she met him again. After the accident, she never expected to meet another one again. She thought they'd all died. But didn't he leave early?
"Thanks," she said. "So where are you heading, Lue?"

"Heading? Me?" Lue said outloud to himself, "Oh, I'm going back home to Neopia..." He smiled, "What about you...?" He asked her, fiddling around with one of the straps to his backpack as he spoke. He hoped she didn't get off soon, he really wanted to speak with her before she left... There was so many questions he wanted to ask but at the same time he didn't want to offend her and scare her off. He was sure she had questions for him too though...

"I'm just heading off somewhere to deliver something. I won't be on for much longer." She smiled. He must have so many questions. But could she answer any of them? Certainly she could, but would she? Was he supposed to know what really happened to make him the way he was, make her the way she was?
There were no strings left on her. She'd cut them a long time ago. She could tell the whole world, if she wanted.
"You're awfully cute," she stated with a grin, pushing her bangs out of her eyes. "Lupe-Scorpio, huh? How fascinating. Can you fly?"

Lue's cheeks would have turned a bright red if it weren't for his dark fur, "Yeah, that's exactly what I am." he said proudly but then he frowned and looked to the side at the next question, "Eh, flying isn't one of my specialties... My wings aren't big enough. I can kinda glide, I guess. Or like fall with style." He shrugged and when doing so folded his tiny wings closer to his body. "Hmmmmm, lemme guess...." he said, looking over at her with a smile, and placing a hand on his chin in playful thought, "Lupe-Eerie?" He asked though he knew he was right. "I don't supposed you can fly either though.....?" he questioned, glancing at her small wings that hid on her back.

She laughed quietly. "No, I can't fly." She flapped her pathetically tiny wings twice playfully, then smiled. "They can't hold anything. And you got it right; Lupe-Eyrie is what I happen to be. Though you're much more fascinating. Lupe mixes are rare."

"Yeah they are..." Lue said with a smile, "I haven't seen any other lupe hybrids...." He said with another shrug, "So...... Um." he started, trying to think of how to word his question. He wanted to ask her how she came to be. Was she naturally created or produced in a lab like himself? An Eerie-Lupe hybrid could possibly be done naturally... He didn't want to offend her though. "Why do you say I'm so much more fascinating?" he asked, changing his line of thought. He would bring it up later at a more appropriate time...

She smiled and said, "Well, in the lab where I was created, I was one of, say, five other Lupe mixes, and I've always been very intrigued by Scorchios." She giggled slightly, wondering where this sudden bold streak came from. She was normally very quiet.

"Lab?!?!?" Lue said with too much excitement in his voice. "I was created in a lab too!" He smiled slightly and reached in his shirt, pulling out a small dogtag that was strung through a heavy silver chain. "I was created to be a defense dog or something for military... I think..." He flipped the silver piece over in his hands, "I was number 126..." He said and looked back up at her. "I found the lab building a while back ago. It's been abandon now but I did find some papers and studies on me." He smiled and looked back down at the tag. "I don't remember anything though." Lue said and leaned back against the seat. "What about you...?" His glanced over at her with his question.

She smiled slightly at his excitement, and pulled from under her own shirt a small tag with her information on it. It hung around her neck on a thin, nearly invisible string, and the tag read:
PROJECT: AMMAZARE ID NUMBER: 751
She smiled. This seemed to say it all. "I remember, you know... I remember you, Lue. We used to be friends."
