"Well, I'd love to go to your house and meet your family," she said with a grin, "and then maybe we could go out later. But whatever's good for you." She smiled, suddenly shy again.

Lue thought about it and then nodded, figuring they could go out for icecream or something later on. "Ummm, ok." he said with a smile and gestured for her to take the lead to leave the restaurant. He knew he would regret bringing her over to the house later on though.

Amma took her plate over to the area where she dumped her silverware, bowl, and plate, and walked out of the bakery/cafe place. She smiled at the sunlight beating down on her. Not a cloud was in the sky. But then she frowned and grumbled, "Aww, man. It's going to rain tomorrow." She sighed; good weather was hard to keep up. She looked at Lue and asked, "So, where's your house? Walking distance or must we ride something?"

"Ummm, its about four miles from here..." Lue said and glanced up at the sky, "We can walk, it might take a while. Or I can wave down a taxi." He said and looked back down at Amma, "And how is it going to rain? There isn't a cloud in the sky..." He said with a confused look.

"I don't know... just a feeling I have," she said casually. She didn't think he'd heard her comment about the rain. He wasn't in the group that was somewhat successful... he probably didn't have any special abilities. "Why not walk? It's a gorgeous day." Enjoy all the sun we can, she added silently. She didn't want to tell him. She knew him a long time, but she still felt like he was a stranger. And she didn't tell secrets to anybody, much less strangers.
Besides, she didn't want to tell him. Of the sizzling sensation in her brain that told her what the weather would be like. She wanted to spare him of the horrific knowledge that plagued her mind, the knowledge that the lab was not at all what it seemed, that they were created to be nothing but slaves.
She didn't want to tell him that she didn't read simply for the fun of it. She didn't want him to ever find out that she was already under the mental slavery, and she couldn't break away. She didn't want him to know the slaves were meant to refill the world with new, super-intelligent races... to know that these new beings would crave little other than pure, raw knowledge... and power.
She needed it. It boiled her blood. She needed to constantly learn more. If she didn't, she would break down. She wondered what it was like to be stupid and both envied and despised those who were.
Lue was her friend. He was a stranger who needed to be kept safe. Safe, she thought bitterly, and stupid.

((There, you got your long postie ^_^ Sorry, I don't really think Lue is stupid, but Amma, having an IQ that easily flies off the chart, has a very different range on where "stupid" lies. XDD You like that? I'm going for the cliche sci-fi superintelligence thing XD))

((I knew you were going to make something wrong with her, lol that's fine ;]))
"Oh is it like a sixth sense or something?" Lue laughed and nudged her playfully, "That's cool." He said and glanced back up at the cloud-less sky. "So where all have you visited? I'm sure you've been to a lot of places since you like to spend you're time just sitting and reading on trains, right?" He asked, hoping he was right cause if not thenhe probably came off sounding like an ass right there.

((Well she's not really psycho... she's just partially mentally enslaved XDD Lol she HAS to read and learn more. Otherwise, bad things happen. muahaha >D))
"I've been everywhere, pretty much," Amma answered calmly, smiling. "It's so fascinating to visit a new place and explore all the lore and history behind it. And yes, I suppose I do rather enjoy, erm, reading on trains." She laughed. "By the way, I haven't been here in a really long time... would the bookstore still be in the same spot, or was it destroyed?" She chewed nervously on her lower lip; every time she thought of the Devastation, she felt incredibly guilty.

Lue stared blankly in front of him, trying hard to remember where the bookstore was. When he finally did look at her he had a shy, embarrassed expression on his face, "To tell you the truth I have no idea...." He chuckled slightly at himself, "We'll just have to look around." he said with a nod. "Yeah I went out on a small worldly tour after the Devastation..." He said, sort of mumbling by the time he got to the end of the sentence. Small flashbacks from the Devastation and the things that happened after it flickered back to him but he shook them off easily. "So you haven't been here since the Disaster?" He asked her.

"Oh, god... Years before," she answered with a wave of her hand. She smiled at him. "Haha, that's all right, we'll find it eventually...." A taxi rounded a corner going approximately 27.4 mph and would turn onto their street in 5.8 seconds. When it came, she flagged it down and it almost didn't stop for her, until she hissed inaudibly under her breath and sent chills down his spine. He saw and stopped for her and she opened the door to step inside. "Let's go, Lue," she said with a warm, friendly smile.

Lue stood there for a few moments, trying to figure out what just happened. He followed her in though. The driver seemed white as a ghost and Lue was uncertain if he was fit for driving at the moment. "W-w-where to miss?" he asked Amma, not even acknowledging that Lue was also in the car. "To the bookstore please." Lue spoke up and the driver slowly started off down the street. Lue sat back and buckled his seatbelt. "Ummm, so... Yeah..." he said feeling a bit awkward now. It was just him and her in the back seat. Unlike the train or the restaurant where there were other people around and the driver didn't seem like he wanted anything to do with them.

Amma was aware of it just being essentially her and Lue alone in the back of the cab, but it didn't really bother her... much. Her shyness started to take over again. "Soooo," she murmured, unsure of what to say. She wasn't an expert on small talk. "What, uh, do you like to do in your spare time?" she asked.

Since Amma was female bookworm Lue didn't think it would be wise to say video games but that was really all he did in his free time. "I just do whatever..." He said with a shrug, "Mostly just hang around the house...." he said and didn't think that was any better than his other answer he had in mind. "I don't really do any sports or have a job if that's what you were wondering." He frowned, "Its kinda hard for a guy like me to get accepted into those kinda things." He said and lightened up a bit, figuring she might have the same kind of problems. "So, um, what about you? In college or anything?"

"I got into college when I was eighteen, even though I really didn't go to high school, but I took a few tests and got such high scores colleges were begging me to go to them," she murmured. "So I went to one and graduated within two years. I didn't have any friends though, and despite my good education and smarts, people want to hire me until they meet me face to face. There's always some excuse for not hiring me, but I'm not stupid. I look weird. I'm not one discernible species. So it scares them." She sighed. "But I find ways to make money. There's always enough cash on me for another book." Not usually a lot for food, but food was second to knowledge on her priority list.

"I don't think you look weird...." Lue muttered quietly. "Yeah I know what you mean." He said pretending that the first part never slipped, "I mow lawns and stuff, people don't usually care who does the dirty work. I don't really need to meet the people either so it all works out." He said with a smile and a slight shrug.
