She heard the first part but politely ignored it as that seemed to be what he wanted. "People are just strange," she said. "You would think that, with all the different colors and species and whatnot, nobody would be harsh about appearances. And yet they still find hybrids disgusting."
A car cut them off; the cab driver swerved to the side, and Amma, who forgot to buckle up, fell onto Lue with an "Ooof!" She hit her head against the window and winced. "Oww." She then blushed, realizing she was in Lue's lap.

Lue too was flung against the window but didn't go far because he was wearing his handy dandy seatbelt. Amma on the other hand ended in his lap. Lue didn't mind it. He was very surprised by it though and if his fur wasn't so dark it would be a deep shade of red. He pretended it was nothing, "Are, uh, you ok?" he asked as he noticed her rubber her head.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, blushing as she sat up and moved back over to her own seat. "You okay?" she asked him, rubbing her head a little. It wasn't anything serious, it was almost gone anyway. Just a little bump to the head.
How did I forget my seatbelt? she wondered curiously.

Lue smiled when he noticed her cheeks redden, "Yeah I'm good." He said and looked outside, "We should be there any minute now shouldn't we?" He called up to the driver. The driver nodded with a grunt and took another turn. Lue was slung in the opposite direction but didn't go flying like Amma had. He let out a sign as the taxi came to a halt and he was jerked forward. Lue quickly opened the door, threw a twenty at the driver and held out a hand to help Amma out.

When Amma took Lue's hand, her blood pulsed violently through her body. Just once. But enough to cause another wave of red to flash across her face and, freak her out. What was that?? Why was she so jumpy and more shy than usual? Once out of the cab, the driver sped away like a bat out of hell. Amma looked behind her at the bookstore; it was, to her delight, much larger than it had been before. She smiled and went inside.

Lue grew quite excited when she agreed to take his hand. It sent a tingling feeling through his body which triggered a flock of butterflies in his stomach. He couldn't stop smiling as he helped her out of the car. Even when she did let go of his hand to examine the bookstore. "How's this for a bookstore?" He said with the same smile he had on since she got out of the car. The tingling feeling had passed but the butterflies were still there.

"It's really great," she told him, excited. The place was two-and-a-half stories tall and large width-and-length-wise as well. It didn't take her very long to pick two books she wanted. She only had three to bargain with; she couldn't take more than two. Up at the counter, she showed them the three books she had on her, told them they were newly bought, brand new from Meridell's book store the day before. It didn't take long for them to agree on trading her the two new books for the most expensive and largest of the three, and so she waited for Lue by the front doors, having come in with three and leaving with four.

Lue had been flipping though a gamer magazine as Amma fished around for her books. He noticed her check out and quickly put the magazine away to rejoin her at the door, "Wow that was quick, I'm guessing you found what you need then?" He said and looked down at her full arms, "Here lemme take some of those." he said and grabbed the top two books before she could protest. "Now where are we off to?" He asked as he held the door open with his back and waited for her to step outside.

She was going to tell him he didn't need to take them, but he took the books anyway. She blushed again and cursed her white fur. "Ummm, I don't know," she said shyly. "How about your house? Is it much farther from here?"

Lue felt another rush of joy as another rush of red filled her cheeks. He found that he liked making her blush. "Eh, yeah kinda... I can get another taxi though..." he said and then he heard a loud and long honk come from the street. Lue jumped and looked up to see who the hell that was and then wanted to shrink back into the bookstore as he spotted his 'sister' Cera waving at him from her bright blue shiny car.
"Hey Lue! Need a ride?" She asked with a smile that covered her face. She knew what was happening here. "You're 'friend' can come too. I'm on my way home." She said and waved for them to come join her in her car. She started moving some clutter around in her back seat.

"Wow, are you Lue's sister? I thought you were on vacation," said Amma with a smile. "Nice car! And it's nice to meet you, I'm Amma." She walked over and opened the door, sliding inside the car and putting her seatbelt on this time. She waved Lue into the car, smiling.

Lue knew this was going to be a long ride. He followed Amma into the back seat even though the front had more room and less clutter. Cera snickered, "Yeah I'm Cera, I got back a few hours ago. I had to make a quick trip to the grocery store. Good thing I did if we're having company over." She said and looked at them through the rear view mirror. Lue chuckled weakly, "How was the trip?" He asked, hoping he could get her talking long enough so she wouldn't ask him any questions about Amma. It didn't work so well though. "Good good, tell ya about it later." She said blowing it off, "Where'd y'all two meet?" She asked, the same big grin came across her face.

"I was on the train for a few hours and then Lue got on and we started talking," Amma answered, shy again. "I'm a hybrid like he is." She felt a ridiculously friendly vibe just pouring off of Cera, and seeing as the girl lived with a hybrid anyway, what harm would it do to tell her that she was also one? It wasn't like it was any big secret anyway.

"I know, that's so awesome!" Cera said as she slowly stopped at a light. "You don't see to many of y'all around. Its so cool that you two met." She said, glancing back at them. Lue really wished she would stop. Amma didn't seem to mind her but for some reason he was embarrassed as hell. He cleared his throat when the light turned green and Cera spun back around and started edging forward. "So what books did ya get?" he asked, examining the two in his lap.
