Ix looked a little surprised, and that opened his mind wider for the haunting melody. He nodded, "Sure."
He led the way towards one of the somewhat darker and less occupied spaces, watching the ceiling still and occasionally glancing to the shifting figures of the actors on stage. Should things return to normal, he would be missd, and have to pay for it.

Roni noticed Cirx was uneasy about leaving his fellow actors on stage. The melody had faded away, and she knew for certain that it was true, what she said, when she whispered in his ear, "The lights aren't coming on any time soon. It'll be short and quick; I promise."

Cirxel nodded, "All right, I'll trust you on that one, miss, but what will be short and quick? And did that music stop? I"m not sure where it come from, other than it wasn't from the pit." His tail flicked back and forth. If the lights were on they would have made on odd pair to be standing togetehr. A young shoyru standing with a multicolored lupe in some old fashioned costume. He looked around curiousity sparking now that the initial danger seemed to have passed ((or so he thinks XD)).

Her eyes widened slightly; had he heard the melody? "Not here," she murmured, grabbing his wrist and pulling him away from the crowd. She took him backstage and out through an exit door, the twilight from the outside pouring into the room. She closed the door partway, making a small weed creep out of the cement and crawl up the door on the other side, the side inside the theater, and strapping itself strong to it so it didn't close all the way.
Now that there was light, Roni felt a little safer. "Anyway, I was up in the box seats, and when the lights went off and that freaky laugh went through the room, I stood up and... something moved past me. In the direction of the stage. But I was at the railing, and I fell backwards over it. I could've just flown back up or something, but then I heard this music, this tiny ghost whisper of music, and it just -- it stopped me. I couldn't think about anything but that."

Ix allowed himself to br dragged outside and once there listened patiently to her explanation of the events. He frowned as she finished.
"Well, that's certainly odd. Whatever was up shouldn't have been, and I'm glad someone was able to catch you at least. I would have felt horrid knowing i had somehow led a girl I had only met the day before fall to her death." ((XD))
He brushed his hair back form his eyes, looking around the allyway. "That music however worries me the most. Was it some kind of spell? I'd never heard anything like it before."

"No, it's not a spell," she answers immediately, without thinking. "It's a lullaby my mother would sing to me every night before I went to sleep, and hearing it now just shocked me into immobility, since I haven't heard it in years." A hundred and thirteen years, to be exact, she remembers. "Oh, oops," she says, her voice getting quieter; she mumbles, "I shouldn't have said that."
((Ackk, please ignore the present tense, I'm too lazy to change it XDDD))

Ix looked a bit skeptical, not entirly believing that the song didn't have any magic to it. But he shrugged, letting it go for now.
"Well, I can understand that, about your mother I mean. But that doesn't explain what's wrong in the theatre. Other than something seems to be flying around that shouldn't."
He turned, glancing down at the weed in the door before prying it open a bit to look inside. The backstage crew seemed to be gathered around the light boards, trying to get something to work.

"I don't know what it is either," said Roni, "and I'm not very sure. But let's just go back in and we'll see if we can't find some flashlights or something. She silently released the weed and it zipped back into the ground, showing no indication it had ever been there, and walked inside the door and back into the darkness.

Cirxel nodded, walking in with her and heading over to the crew gathered around the lightboards. He grabbed one of them, pulling him back for a moment.
"Mike, we got any flashlight back here?" "Yeah, Ix, they're in the toolbox over there. Aren't you 'sposed to be on stage?" "Yeah, but things are a mess all round, so I figured I'd better help out."
The other neopet nodded and Cirxel turned back to Roni, gesturing to the corner and heading over there, picking up said toolbox. He opened the lid, rummaging about for a flshlight or two.

Roni pulled two flashlights from the box, but the moment her thumb pressed down on the switch of one, it was hurling across the room and almost hit someone in the head, but burst into pieces on the concrete wall. Eyes wide, she turned around. Two red eyes looked back at her. She gasped and dropped the second flashlight. Cold hands grabbed her shoulders. She shoved forward and felt her hands touch flesh; it was pushed back. "Come on!" she told Cirx, grabbing his hand and yanking him along with her back towards the door. But the hands didn't give up, except this time, they grabbed Cirxel too. Roni screamed as they were pulled into the floor, into a little pool of shadow that couldn't be seen anyway in the darkness. She stretched her hand out, trying hard to stay up, but it was the last thing to go down before the pool vanished and the dark seemed somehow a million times darker than before. ((OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, SUSPENSE! DUDNDUNDUNNNNN! XD I just had an awesome image come in my mind of Roni's hand trying to come out and stuff, and yah It was awesome lol))

Cirxel held the box as Roni took out the flashlights, and yelped as the first went flying out of his hand. The other crew members turned at the crash, including the white faced almost victem of the projectile.
Ix turned back, to Roni, seeing the eyes only for a second before she grabbed him. Shortly after of course he was grabbed by something else. He jerked and retaltiated the best her could, yelling out, but it wasn't enough to faze his captors. He was dragged down, in the complete darkness that only instilled more fear in the actor.

They were trapped in the writhing darkness for an hour or a minute--Roni couldn't be sure which. She reached out with her hands, swimming in the shadows, trying to find a way out. And then the melody rang through the darkness, through the ebony world around her...
"Hear me now, my darling, my sweet; and let us roam the plains..."
It rang out in Ahslan. Roni went numb and just listened, feeling suddenly calm.

Cirxel had continued his flailing panic as they remained trapped in the darkness. When the melody rang out it did nothing to help, if only having the opposite effect of Roni. The lupe struggled harder, but with the same rate of success. He was completely helpless in the darkness, his brain just wouldn't accept that.

Fujauen eika li oh damue; en uebu ohr nobe shalcorhu vae... To where I will wait for you; whisper my secrets in your ear...
Roni heard Cirx thrashing somewhere, both nearby and far away at the same time. "Stop it," she said; "all that will do you no good. We'll be out soon enough. Just let the darkness take you for a moment."
Lade unf urdohwn, brakeno eika; tuu ba wa-so-mi nane nufur ke... You stay silent my love, while I speak; for I know you cannot say such words...

It took a few moments for Roi's words to break through into Cirxel's thoughts, and when it did he was tempted to shout back otherwise at her. He took a deep breath, tryingot calm himself the best he could. The music wasn't helping him at all, and he focused into glaring at the darkness till it went away. His fingers and tail twitched in his frustration with the lack of light.
