Roni tried not to smile, but it was hard. "I think it's this way," she said, pointing toward one of the doors. "I can sense the dark faeries better now that we're aboveground." She walked in front of Ix, letting the smile come out now that her back was to him. She couldn't stop grinning, even though she was walking into her--and his--potential death.
She opened the door and walked down the hall. Light came in through the boarded-up windows.

He nodded, "After you." Cirxel was grinning as he trotting after her with one hand on the hilt of his rapier.
As she oppned the door he looked past her curiously at the bourded up passage, but the little light filtering from the windows was enough for him.

Stopping by one of the windows, Roni peeked through the boards. She gasped. "No way," she said.
She was looking out at... sky. Stormy clouds gathered at the base of the castle they were in. They hadn't been underground at all; no, this castle was floating above the clouds!

Cirxel came over at her excalmation, looking out through a different crack. "So, either we're in faeireland or somehting like it, or those faeires are really good illusionists." He stated, looking back down the hall.
"Now what? I'm not too fond of faeire land. Never could overcome the height of it all."

"We'll deal with how to get out of here later," she said, leaving the windowsill and continuing down the hall. She got to the door. The smell of dark faeries was prominently flowing from it. Taking a deep breath and saying, "Here goes nothing," she opened the door and walked inside.
She was greeted by three very surprised dark faeries and one not-so-surprised one. The latter looked at her and Ix and said, "Ahhh, welcome, Princess. Come to join the rest of your kingdom?"

Cirxwl slipped past her so he was standing next to her and glancing around the room quicly before settling his attention on the speaker and her two accomplices. His hand tightened around the hilt of his sword and he continued watching her.

"Why did you do it?" Roni asked darkly. "What interest did Ahsla hold for you?"
The dark faerie raised an eyebrow, and then said, "I really don't think that's any of your business--"
"LIKE HELL IT ISN'T!"
The other faeries were surprised by her outburst, but the one who'd spoken didn't flinch. Her eyes moved to Cirx. "Who's your oddly-dressed friend?" she asked, eyes dancing with mockery.

Cirxel smirked at her comment, holding his head higher. "And what interest do I hold for you, hm?" he asked, keeping his eyes on her and the other two. If it came to violence he'd go for them first. They seemed like they would be easier to take down.

"I haven't eaten anything in a while," the faerie replied, holding the back of her hand near her mouth, the edges of which were curved up into a devious grin. Roni could see fangs. "It may be interesting to see what bad fashion tastes like."
Roni was confused.

Cirxel didn't hide his surprise very well, and it was doubtless evident on his face "Faeries eat neopets?" he asked, "I've never heard of that before."

"Faeries? Ha! They're all lousy vegetarians, let me tell you," the dark faerie said. "Even other dark faeries. But me? No. I'm different." She hopped off the chair she sat on and walked slowly toward them, stopping at about five meters.
At last, Roni understood. "Wait. Did you.... eat..... my family?!?!?!"
"Of course not," the faerie snapped. "They're not of my taste. No, dear, I wanted you. And to get you, I had to pay a visit to little Ahsla, and when they wouldn't hand you over, I had no choice but to send a search party through the village."
"Search party! You destroyed everything in your path!"

Cirxel tightened his grip on the sword further as the not-faerie rose. He grabbed roni's arm with his other hand as the not-faerie gave her version of the tale. "I still don't see why you'd want to eat her." he pointed out, trying to watch her comrades still.

"And I don't see why you'd want to eat whatever it is that YOU eat," the faerie snapped quickly, "but you do and that's your preference!"
Two of the three other faeries grabbed Roni, one grabbed Ix. Roni twisted an arm out of one's grip and kicked her down, then took the other's arm and easily snapped the bone. The faerie yelled in pain. The head faerie flew up to the very high cieling.

Cirxel instantly reacted, drawing the rapier and stabbing the farie coming for him. He turned toward the ceiling, unsheathing his dagger as well, watching her wearily. He glanced over at Roni, waiting to see if she had any way to use her magic to get to the being above them.

Roni stepped on both of the live faeries' legs hard; cracking bone sounds and screams of pain echoed through the room. Leaving the crippled faeries on the ground, she wrapped her arms around a large stone pillar holding up the cieling. She pulled; the floor and cieling around the pillar cracked. She pulled again, and it broke free. She held her weapon steady, aiming for the lead faerie, who was in awe.
"You're much stronger than I thought you were, Your Highness," she called down. "But fear not, dearie, for Lady Sithira has some tricks up her sleeve, too!"
Roni swung the pillar at the faerie, but Sithira had already vanished. She appeared where the pillar had just been. Roni swung back; again, the faerie flew so quickly she couldn't be seen to safety.
Then Sithira didn't appear again. Roni was looking around until she noticed Ix floating in the air. She looked and saw him vanish; and then he appeared in the air high above, held by Sithira a good fifty meters off the ground.
