Tail swishing back and forth behind her, the black kougress looked out over the edge of the balcony, and down at the dark, cloud-covered city below. There seemed to be a long, awkward pause between her and the other female; she hated long awkward pauses, they bothered her to no end. She almost didn't notice the guard join them, and didn't realize who it was until turning her head around to look at him. He was certainly an odd sight, if you could even call it that; technically she couldn't really see him, just his armor. Likewise, she had no idea who he was; she had never seen him before, or at least not to her recollection. Of course, the fact that he was only a guard didn't matter to her, since she often spent hours talking to random guards anyway. It wasn't like she had anything better to do, other than taking Spinneli, her gruslen, out for a walk.
"Hello there," she smiled cheerily, too cheerily considering the circumstances.

Omega quickly turn to look at the kougra, looking her over quickly before deciding to risk a conversation. He gave a small bow before replying. Better to do so then not, especially if she was someone of importance on this floating rock.
"Hello."
He stood up straight again, trying not to lean too much on the wall behind him.

Abby giggled internally, though only let it show with a smile on the outside. “At ease, don’t need to strain yourself on my account.” As she spoke, her tail flicked playfully behind her. Though she wasn’t sure why, observing others’ behavior amused her; perhaps it was that embedded physiatrist buried deep within her.
Briefly, she looked to her side, wondering if the female she had been speaking with was going to say anything, but she appeared to be deep in thought. Whatever the problem was, it didn’t matter much to Abby, as long as she pulled it together in time for battle.

"Well, you can never be too certain," he pointed out, relaxing a bit. the plates of his armor clanked together as he shifted to a more comfortable position. One hand was lying lazily on the hilt of his gladis. "May I inquire what brings a lady like yourself out at a time like this?" he asked, watching her curiously.

"Well aren't you the polite sweetheart," she teased. She hadn't heard words like 'inquire' or 'lady' in a long time, not since being dragged here. It was refreshing, in an amusing sort of way. "And to answer your question, I couldn't sleep." She could have easily gone on to say that it was because she was a vampire, and then point out it was the middle of the night. But, she suspected he didn’t have a clue as to what she was, and decided it was best to leave some things to the imagination. Of course, even if it had been mid-day, no one would have been able to tell; the darn demonic cloud completely engulfed the citadel twenty-four seven. "And I'm just going to assume that you're out here because you got stuck with the late shift. No point in asking a question I already know the answer to..." Her voice trailed off as she subtly turned her head to look over the railing of the balcony again. For a brief few seconds, she appeared deep in thought, until suddenly snapping back and smiling warmly at the guard.

"A correct assumption, of course." Omega replied, "though it's not so much the shift I'm stuck with, but the job, and location as well." The last phrase hung in the air with a air of musing, and he stared longingly at the dark clouds ahead, imagining the bright sun of old glaring down on a crowded arena, the cheering crowd....
"What I wouldn't give to be back Achea right now..." he murmured alowd, rearranging his shield arm so it was more comfortable against the wall.
((Just a little FYI, Achea is his city...))

It made her uncomfortable hearing anything negative about what was going on - about what they all were doing. If asked, she'd have to agree with their negativity, she just hated talking about it. For some reason, she felt as if the walls had ears. "Achea? Isn't that the name of a soft drink? No, wait, that's achyfi. So, what slash where is Achea?"

Omega turned to look at her, shifting his weight against the wall. He considered not telling her, if she didn't know, but it wouldn't do any good. The Dark Faeries knew where it was anyway.
"Achea is the city I came from. It's close to Altador, in the mountains near there, but not many people know about it. I was a gladiator there." He frowned, not that she could see it; it felt odd, saying he wasn't a gladiator any longer.

Abby cocked her head just slightly to the side. "Really? I've never been there, never even heard of it... It must be fairly well hidden if not many people know about it." A soft smile crossed her, and more out of politeness and less out of interest she inquired. "So, tell me about it. You were a gladiator; that sounds pretty exciting... I'm not even entirely sure what a gladiator is, to tell you the truth." At least, she only knew what she had seen in movies, and had never found them to be entirely accurate.

Omega opened his mouth to reply but stopped, taking a moment to try and figure out how he got into such a talktive conversation with one the members of the force who had taken over his home.
He considered not answering her, but eventually decided against it. It's not like there's anythign to hide now, with Achea taken... he thought, before he finally replied.
"If you go from the origin of the name, a gladiator is a swordsman. The gladis are our swords," his hand drifted to the hilt of the straight sword on his left," which is where the name comes from. In Achea we fight in an arena for the crowds. It's considered a sport there, and the gladiators are well respected enough. A lord can make quite a bit of money from sponsering a gladiator, they get part of the winnings and money from bets. The gladiators are also expected to fight in times of war."
A frown spread across Omega's face at that, remebering the attack of the darigans on Achea, where he and the other gladiators had formed a squadron that had tried to defend the city.

Abigail listened intently, tail swishing back and forth with a soft subtle smile played across her snout. She had learned something new today - learned about what it really meant to be a gladiator, and that little bit about the sword was interesting too. "Sounds cool," she replied once he was finished. "But if you gladiators are supposed to be fighting in times of war, how come you're not there fighting now?" With a slight chuckle she jokingly added, "Did ya decide to take a turn toward the dark side?"
Obviously she was clueless; she knew a lot about what went on around here, but not everything. Since she had never heard of Achea, it stood to reason that she had no idea it had already been taken over. She should have guessed as much in the first place, since many regions had already been consumed by the faerie's dark powers, but she wasn't thinking clearly...or at all, really.

Dre read the scroll silently and began to think of a better color that might suit her in a time like this. She then looked back at the spell and read it outloud. Her skin felt a bit tingly as she turned a dark purple. Her hair and hands also took in a dark grey color. She smiled at her handy work and looked over at Shallo, "Better?" She asked, holding up a hand to examine it's new appearance. She had no doubt that she would blend in now.

Shallo's eyes drifted over he new fur color, nodding. "It'll do. It's an interesting choice." he replied, taking the scroll back and quickly slipping it into one of the chests.
"I'd make sure that amulet's on pretty tight. It would probably cancel the magic if it came off."
He double checked the paint onf his skin and his scarf before reaching into his pocket for his teleportation ring.
"Ready to meet the Resistance?"
--------------------------------------------------------
Omega's gladis shifted a bit as his grip on it tightened at her statement. The sharp hiss of his drawn breath would probably have been another hint at anger her comment had pierced. He took a deep breath, trying to think of a comment that would cut as easily as his sword, but the pause was enough to make him realize the ignorance of her statement. He watched her critically now for, realizing her ignorance. Eventually he shrugged, though his hand stayed firm on the hilt of his sword.
"Well, I suppose if I were really trying to blend with the Darigan army my uniform would be more, well, uniform, wouldn't it?"

Dre slipped the amulet over her head and tightened it around her neck. "Yes." She said and nodded. She watched as he took out one of his many rings from pocket and got ready to use it. "You've teleported many times before, right?" She asked, uneasy with this idea.

Shallo suppressed a snort, taking hold of her arm. "I got you here, didn't I?" he asked, before slipping on the ring and initiating its magic.
The next moment the two were standing in one of the barracks of the main resistance base. The room was fairly bare except for a few beds and trunks or bags containing the belongings of its inhabitants.
Shallo let go of Dre and stalked over to one of the beds, pulling a small chest out from under it. He opened the lid, digging through its contents til he found the thick fur lined cloak he was looking for. Even inside, the bade in the middle of Terror Mountain was freezing for the desert dweller. Shallo through it over his shoulders, fastening it quickly.
He held up a second one, glancing over at Dre. "Think you'll be needing this?"
