"Rasi," she choked. "You need to leave. Please... they're coming. That arrow.. was not meant for you." She watched him go and tried to climb up, wincing at the pain.
As she was climbing up the hill, three large shadowy creatures came from the direction the arrow had come from. One of them yelled at Rasi, "You, there! Bori! Have you seen a pirate Shoyru around here by the name of Captain Vinetaa?"

Rasi scowled, anger rising up in him, "Why would you need that information?" he asked, rage filled his voice. He had no clue who these people where or why they were here but they didn't seem to like Vi very well and they weren't about to get anywhere close to her if he could prevent it. Rasi kept his hands ready, power building in them...

The second creature, a large Skeith, scowled at him. "We have a score to settle with the captain," he snarled, saying 'captain' mockingly. "We just saw her here. Neaubeus here just shot her down." The third creature, the one with the bow, grinned wickedly. "Now tell me, Bori. Where did she hide once she fell? State the truth and we will not hurt you."
Vi froze. She recognized these voices! And they weren't here on any friendly business.

Rasi's gaze didn't drift, "No scores will be settled here..." He said, waving his hand so that the bow froze and the string snapped into two... He waved his hand again and the snow around him floated into his hand and froze into a ball of ice, hard enough to be mistaken for a rock. They might not hurt him but he sure was going to get revenge for Vi. He had no idea what she had done to deserve this but he still want going to let these stranger have their way with her...

The first one, a big pirate Grarrl, pulled out a sword and lunged at Rasi. His companions quickly followed suit.
Vi growled and yanked the arrowhead from its place in her back and scrambled up the hill. "Neaubeus!" she yelled angrily. "Torukan! Urnhayyk! Leave Rasi alone! It's me you want, right?" She still had no idea what they wanted, nor had she a clue where the names had come from.
The big Grarrl looked at her and laughed. "Well, if it ain't Captain Vi," he said, smirking. "I would'a thought we done you away back on that ship, but looks like you survived it. How surprising."
"I have no idea what you are talking about," she snapped. "What ship?"

Rasi made no move to look at Vi, he couldn't be distracted. He froze the all of their feet to the ground, "Don't take another step..." He said ignoring everything that was happening, "Vi stay there..." He said not even turning his head to look at her. Whatever happened it appeared as if the group was trying to kill her and he wasn't going to let that.

"Damn you!" the Skeith yelled at Rasi when his feet froze.
"Don't play stupid, wench," the Grarrl warned Vi, paying no attention to Rasi. "You remember the Portfoul. You sank our ship! And now we're going to send you to the pits of hell!!"

Rasi now was able to pull his gaze way, "Vi, come on..." He said picking her up. He shot an ecil glace at the three males who were frozen to the ground, "Lets hope you survive the storm." He said glancing up at the darkening clouds above. He was't going to be the one to kill them, he would never do such thing unless they had killed someone first. He grabbed his pack and started walking away from the others.

She could hear the angry shouts of the pirates as Rasi took her away. Something burned inside her, a heated anger caused by events she didn't remember. What was going on? She reluctantly shoved her thoughts aside. Sometimes she thought too much. Instead, she worried about surviving this god forsaken adventure she was on.

Rasi waited till they were out of sight before he set Vi down again, "Here let me see that..." He said getting the first aide kit out of his pack and walking around her to her back. Her shirt was stained with blood and the bandage was now too, "That is going to leave a nasty scar..." He said unwrapping it and taking the jacket off of her. He tore her shirt a little where the arrow had hit to get a better view on what he was dealing with. "This might sting a little..." he said getting out some rubbing alcohol and dabbing her cut with it.

She winced at the sting, but said nothing, for she was thinking about something...
"Oh, boy, that is one ugly cut," said the red Shoyru.
"Gee, I didn't know that," Vi said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "Now can you hurry up and heal it?"
"Well, if you're going to act like that, perhaps I won't heal you at all."
She scowled at her. "Whatever, it's not like I need to be healed. It'll leave a cool scar, one that I can blame both Ara AND you for!"
"You filthy... pirate."

Rasi patted the access alcohol with his shirt and wrapped a clean bandage on it, "That should help for a while but once we get to the town we need to get that looked at..." He said putting the jacket back on her and the first aide kit in his pack. "We need to find shelter though..." He said looking up at the sky again and then back at Vi with a worried expression. He helped her up and started walking closer to the mountain, hoping to find an unoccupied cave they could spend the day at.

She leaned against him as she walked, her right shoulder pounding with a slight ache. She felt water drain from the snow and rise into her hand, and she sent it up her arm to her shoulder. The water burned, then cooled to soothe the ache.
"She is going to kill us in our sleep and then make off with our stuff one of these days!"
She looked up through strands of her hair. Was that a house up there about a mile away?
"You do not talk about your sister that way."
She squinted. Yes, it was. A house, with lights on. She nudged Rasi and pointed.
"She is not my sister."

Rasi looked up, he was too busy trying to keep Vi supported that he really wasn't paying attention. He smiled when he saw the house, "Maybe the town is closer than I thought..." He reached down and took Vi's hand in his, walking faster. "Come on, that blizzard is going to hit any moment..." He warned, worried that they wouldn't make it in time...
