Lue's face would have been white if his fur wasn't so dark, "So there is a army of super smart hybrid zombie things somewhere around here working for the Rekah?" He said when she was finished. "And.... I'm the oldest hyrid?" He said and stared blankly at the wall in front of him. He was only twenty or so, he wasn't exactly sure because he didn't remember the first ten or so years of his life. Still... All of this was so new to him, he had no idea. Amma was right, he was really oblivious to everything.

“Was,” she corrected. “Most of us were killed in the Devastation once word got out about hybrid affiliation with the Rekah. After that, even innocent hybrids that were made accidentally or natural-born started being killed. The Rekah sent all the humans away, unharmed, but few have come back, and most that have are stupid. All normal neopets were meant to die in the Devastation and allow for us to recreate the world. But I’m sure none of us are able to have children biologically, so they decided hybrids weren’t going to work, and they’d have to create a whole new species. They figured that out around the beginning of December, when they realized they were losing, their creations were dying, and they were running out of power. So, they hid away and now they are quietly working on the new species. Nobody knows where they are, and I’m sure that something worse than the Devastation will happen again someday if they aren’t stopped. The reason I know all of this is because… I used to work for them.”

Lue had kind of figured that she was part of them when said 'Most of us were killed'. Lue had been a pretty big part of the Devistation as well. He only remembered bits and pieces of it but he knew that he was there... It bothered him that these scientists were so smart that they could create species but they couldn't predict the outcome of the war. He also wondered why Sarah had come back if most people had stayed away. So many other things nagged him about all of this, specially why the Rekah was still working. "So why haven't you told others about this? We should get our own army to track these people down and destroy them..." He said figuring there was a catch behind this.

“Oh, trust me, Lue, that was the first idea I had,” she told him earnestly. “When I finally escaped them, I went to warn police about the coming disasters. But they didn’t believe me. I was insisting and told them everything I knew, and they got suspicious and thought I was mentally ill. So they had me looked at by a therapist, who told them nothing was wrong with me. Then they threw me in jail. I broke out after the Devastation started, because they were going to kill me since everything I told them was going to happen, started happening.” She sighed.
“And then, after it was all over, I was foolish enough to try and go back to police. Different one, this time, but I went to warn them that the Rekah wasn’t gone… that an even worse attack would happen. They found my file of my visit to the police in Neopia Central before it all happened, and once again I was arrested. They figured I was behind something. When nothing happened for months, they let me out. The days and nights I spent in jail were horrible. I couldn’t… my mind almost collapsed, because I wasn’t reading… I wasn’t learning anything… The only reason I stayed alive was by asking my jail mates questions about their lives. I learned everything they would say about them, milking the information out of every single new bit I could get and not getting too much at once, so it lasted longer. They all thought I was just really weird.”

Lue found that really weird as well; he looked over at her with a crocked smirk, "Just gotta have your books, eh?" He said with a small chuckle and shook his head. "Well... We need proof then." He said wrapping his hand around his clenched fist, "We'll get some kind of proof, then we'll take it to the police... No not the police, they have all your records. We'll take the proof to someone who can help us. Then we can fight back." He said, his brain at work with some sort of plan. After he said all of that, he was sure Amma probably already though of it. He fell back into his pillow and sighed. "I don't know..." he said and rolled over so that his face was buried in the cotton.

Amma sighed too. She'd thought of all of that before. It seemed like such a dead end to her. She still blushed when he commented about her books though, and didn't bother to tell him that she needed them to survive. It was more important than food or water. She rubbed his back for a while to comfort him, and then asked quitely, "Do... you want to kick my butt in Guitar hero?"

Lue didn't respond but he did turn his head to the side to look at her and so that he could breath easier. He hated to admit this to himself but she wasn't the same person anymore. She had been part of the enemy... She knew things that could change the world as he knew it. She wasn't the cute little innocent girl anymore and he didn't want to think that. "Uggghhh..." He grumbled and slammed his fists on the mattress. "This is so confusing..." He muttered and sighed again. He rolled onto his back again after a long moment of silence and glanced over at her. "I............ I wanna go back to sleep." He said and nodded to himself.

"Okay," she murmured, feeling really crummy. She hadn't wanted to ever tell Lue these things about her and the reality of their existence. Or at least, not for awhile. She hadn't asked for a life like this. She would give up everything she had to be a normal person and lead a normal life. She was artificially made and didn't believe she had a soul like everybody else. It was a horrible thing to feel. "I'm really sorry..."

Lue had been staring at the ceiling when she said that, he glanced back over at her and nodded again, "Lets just drop it for now..." He said and managed a small smile. He brought a hand up to her face and stroked her cheekbone, "It'll work out............" He muttered with uncertainty. He knew it wouldn't work out until someone did something about it. They were the only ones that knew... His hand slid behind her neck as he pulled her down and kissed her lightly. "Somehow........" He said, almost whispering and still with a lot of uncertainty.

Lue's attempt at optimism made Amma sad. She lay next to him quietly and waited for him to fall asleep again. She felt like crap. Yes, the Rekah needed to be stopped... but how? Amma had gone over all the possibilities a thousand times. There seemed to be no way they could fix it.

Lue found that he fell back to sleep easier with Amma next to him. He had the worst dreams though.

Amma lay silently, motionlessly, beside Lue as she waited for him to wake up. Her only movement was her gentle, even breathing and the occasional blinking of her eyes. The rest of her was like stone, unmoving and dead-like.
Her mind, however, was going a hundred miles a minute. Most people probably thought about as fast, or faster, than they would normally speak, but her thoughts were far more than five times faster than her talking speed. For the first time, though, it was giving Amma a headache. Totally psychological, of course -- she could not get headaches -- but still there, and annoying.
One thought that went as fast as it came was a wondering of what Lue was dreaming about.

Lue slept for another hour or so before he started worrying about when Rasi was going to wake up, he didn't need him ratting on Amma for sneaking in. He blinked his eyes open and looked around. It was a lot brighter now and the smell of bacon and eggs was coming from downstairs. He glanced down at Amma and frowned when he noticed that she was already awake, "You weren't waiting too long for me to wake up, were you?" He asked, figuring she had fallen back asleep earlier as well. He reached over and pulled her bangs out of her eyes and smiled slightly, "Nevermind, how about some breakfast?"

Amma had already eaten, but she was hungry again. "Sounds good," she said at his suggestion of eating. She'd been awake the whole time, just lying here watching him sleep. She sat up and slid off of his bed, then walked over to the door of the room and waited by it for Lue to follow her. She looked over at Rasi, zonked out in the other bed, and felt a pang of pity. She felt so sorry for the poor man. Sure, his girlfriend was a complete and total bitch, but he seemed nice enough. Not nearly deserving of what he went through, unknown details aside. She looked back at Lue, having only looked at Rasi for half a second, and waited for him.

Lue took his time. He has flashed Amma a weird look when she jumped out of the bed all of the sudden and was already waiting for him at the door. He stretched, yawned a few times, popped his back and neck and finally stood up. "Coming coming...." he mumbled and joined Amma, shutting the door quietly behind them.
Sarah smiled when she saw them come down the stairs. "Good your just in time for breakfast!" She dished out a couple plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast and handed them to Lue. "Sleep well?" She directed to Amma, grabbing napkins, forks, and jelly for the table.
