Drift considered the question, watching her face for any change of expression, trying to see how her mind was working. When she voiced the question, he knew it may not have been directed straight at him, but he chose to answer regardless, with an indulgent little smile.
"I'd say... a little bit of both." It was not a lie. Not really even a stretch, if one knew how Drift regarded his job. He appeared to stare off into space for a second, thinking, then suddenly snapped back. "But enough about me. How about you. We've both seen that we're not exactly usual customers. What are you here for?"

"Business," she replied, bored. She had no reason to hide her business from a mortal. She was really thinking about his remark - a bit of both? Either he enjoyed his job (and his seemed dire,) or it was fun with colleagues, Rue was unsure which. "So, what kind of work are you into?" This would probably answer her question. She stood up and leaned against the bar.

He took a measured sip of his drink, and slowly set it down for the bartender to whisk away- he didn't like to waste anything, but this was different. It gave him a moment to pretend to ponder the question, and seeing as the uni had stood up, he did the same, and suddenly laughed, "I'm not going to lie to you. It's not great or flashy or glamourous. I'm just here to meet my buisiness contact. Rather... curious... that they chose to meet here, wouldn't you think?" Drift said, placing emphasis on 'curious', "Would it be rude to ask the same?", he added with a sort of chuckle.

Rue snorted. She met in all kinds of unlikely places for her job. Get on with it. "No, not really. My business is kind of varied." She was tiring of this atmosphere quickly. "So how long d'you think you'll be waiting?" She felt the need for fresh air and open spaces. And less witnesses.

At her new tone and questioning, Drift's eyes narrowed a fraction behind their lenses. How much did she know, after all? And how much was she able to guess? Without warning, he plunged his hand in his jeans pocket. -And drew out a cell phone. He flipped it open, and pressed a few buttons, the blue light illuminating his face slightly. A line creased between his eyebrows as he closed the phone and pocketed it. "I'll give it ten minutes."
Time. He had just bought some.

"I don't think the person I'm waiting for is going to arrive," she lied. "I'm going to wait outside. There's not enough air in here." She slinked towards the door, knowing the gelert would follow her. Outside, the night was dim and cool and quiet. The bass thudded faintly behind the brick. She extended her wingspan to full length ((about 4m/13ft)) and let the moonlit glow warm her. Rue's own glow was more pronounced out here, and it wavered calmly in the darkness.
Inside, you fool! Track him, I say! He will come.
There was little traffic, so she scanned her surroundings: a few garbage cans, a cracked sidewalk. A few redundant buildings.. a warehouse. All empty for the night. Some, it seemed, had been empty for lengthier periods. She waited for her perpetrator.

He nodded at her with a smile, but once she was gone, he went into action, standing up fast, laying a few bills on the bar to pay for his drink. Drift made his way to the back of the establishment, to the relative quiet of the men's restroom, where after confirming it empty, he pulled out the phone again, speed-dialed a number, holding up to his lank ears. The exchange was brief, not taking more than 20 seconds at most.
"Target Found." Pause. "Poison Heart." Pause. "...She knows." Pause. "Will do."
He flipped the phone closed, pocketed it. I need a back entrance... There would only be one in the kitchen though. He lingered by the door, biding his time for when a large group of people decided to exit.

A few people left the club. None of them were the gelert. See?! He isn't coming! The shrill, female voice screeched in anger, unheard by everybody but Rue. She sighed and moved her hand to her side, her hand in a pose as if she was holding onto something long and thin. A black colour spiderwebbed from her fingertips, materializing as a long, mahogany staff. It was curled at one end, and at the tip, a lantern hung, emitting a black light. "He will. You have less experience with people than I do. Please trust me." She spoke firmly but respectfully. The black light softened, but remained. Rupalia ran her hand up the staff, concealing it as she went. Within seconds it was gone. Her wings folded again, she leant calmly against the wall of the club, her pierced ears rotating.

But that probably won't work. his mind told him, Hell, no one's sure exactly what she can do. It's not like you'll escape detection forever.
He reached under his coat, touching the cold metal of the pistol shoved into his belt, for reassurance, perhaps? In any case, he wished he had his sword. Though it was far too large and attention getting, it was more than a weapon, perhaps a sort of good luck charm.
Drift's chance came when a giggling group of Neopets came to leave a few moments later, men, women, and couples, all happy and chattering, and dressed in various oddly strange ways, clustered the doorway in an attempt to leave. He shoved his way in their midst, and once exiting the door, kept a sharp look out for the Uni. He was relatively sure that may be her leaning against the wall... But with the amount of people on the street, she could be anywhere...

She laid her red eyes on him, after seeing him exit the club. Kill him!! "Needed fresh air too, huh?" she asked sarcastically. He hadn't been waiting for anyone in the club after all.

Drift stopped, letting the people flow past him. He was not phased by her sarcastic tone at all, his words suggested he hadn't quite given up his ruse yet, while his anunciation and tone was all wrong; short and clipped.
"I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke."
The people filtered by, and a gust of wind rolled down the street. Several girls nearby giggled and laughed as it ruffled their hair, teased at their skirts. The gelert regarded the uni, expression impassive, eyes impossible to read behind their lenses.
"Who are you?"

Her eyes fluttered for a fraction of a second. "My name is Rupalia." She held up her hand to shake too quickly to be natural; the outlines of her arm blurred slightly as she did so.

Drift didn't move to shake her hand, nor stepped backward as one might have, after noticing the strange ripple. Instead, his brows furrowed.
"What do you want?"

Rupalia withdrew her hand. Her tone was no longer welcoming, instead it had become cold and hard. She smiled. "This isn't about what I want. It's about what you've done. What do you want?"
((lol it's okay, I do it too xDD))

Drift was confused by the statement, as one is confused when somewhere... deep down in his conciousness.. he knows what is really being asked. Realization suddenly hit him. She had been looking for him too!! But why...? He kept his tone complacent, voice steady, with minimal effort, though the mere fact that it took ANY effort at all was a testament to the chock of this fact. Even so there was a new edge in his voice as he spoke. "Firstly, I want to know what I've done."
