Ix was sruggling to keep them afloat with her floundering, but he managed. "Yes, yes," he gasped out impatiently, "You're fine, just calm down."
He quickly glanced around, trying to take stock of how close the shore was. The familiar sight of Mystery island's coast made him much more relieved.

It took a lot of work, but Roni finally managed to settle down and relax to a point. She never let up on her death grip on Ix, focusing her mind on calming down.

"Alright, " Ix gasped once he had managed to achieve some balance between her thrashing and swimming. "Alright, just calm down. You're fine." he turned his head trying to gauge the distance from here to land. "Roni, so you think you could create something for us to use to float better. A log or something?" he asked, figuring if the girl had something to hold onto to she would do better swimming.

"Ummm.... ummm....." Roni nervously released one hand and reached out with it, searching for any sign of a log or tree or something. Her hand shook with anxiety and fear of being in the water, but eventually she grabbed on to something and pulled back to her, bringing a sideways tree trunk from nearby to them.

"Perfect," he muttered, pulling it toward them. "Alright, Roni, I want you to grab onto that. " he instructed, realizing how tightly was grasping onto him.
"I know this sounds a bit, well, blunt, but do you know how to swim?" he asked, hoping very much he wouldn't ahve to do all the swimming. Rescuing her and keeping them afloat was really begining to pain his chest, though it seemed to have been abating since she had healed it.

Roni's face grew very hot with embarrassment. "Uhhh, well....." She carefully pried herself from Ix and onto the trunk, never letting go of Ix until she was totally on the tree, which she clung to fiercely.

"Oh, ok then," he replied, turning the log so they were facing the land ahead. taking a deep breath of the salty air he loved he turned to Roni, plastering a comforting smile on his face. "Alright, Roni, I want you to try something, ok? I'm going to start swimming us to land, I want you to try and help. You don't have to let go of the log, just kick aongside me, alright?"

" 'Kay," she said, feeling a little foolish. She kicked at the water and the log, amazingly, started to move, and so did they. She'd always been terrified of water, ever since her first encounter with a large amount of it after she left Ahsla, and had never wanted to be near it. She always avoided the beach when she lived on Mystery Island and then on Shenkuu.

"That's great, " Cirxel said encouragingly, kicking strongly alongside her. He looked back up at the island, trying to rememer the various maps they kept at home that had the different currents on them. Once he had managed to dig up the comparison of where the were and what current were nearby he grinned. "We should head over here, it'll be easier." he said, slowly turning to log toward where he figured the current that ran past the main beach was.

She smiled a little when he praised her, still feeling like a child, but saying nothing. She kicked in a way that turned the log so it went where he told her they should get to. They caught the current and were zipping off to shore.
- Finally, when they reached shallow waters, Roni let go of the log and started running up to the beach, getting sand all over her in a desperate attempt to reach land. She collapsed on the beach far from where the waves crashed and lay on her stomach, salty hair flung over her face and arms.

Cirxel laughed, dragging the log up after him. Once he had it safely on land he went over to where roni was lying, falling onthe sand next to her. "Enjoy your swim?" he asked jokingly, looking out on the waves behidn them.
He probably looked the worst now than all day. what was left of his costume was soaking, his fur and hair were horribly matted from the salt and what blood was left on him.

Roni raised her head and gave him the coldest stare she could give him. "That's not funny," she said darkly, putting her head back on her arms. She was still rather shaken.

"Sorry," he apologized, watching the waves and sky. "I've lived here my whole life, the ocean doesn't really bother me. Sorry I took it so lightly." he turned over so her was facing her. "You did good, for someone who doesn't know how to swim."
He got up, holding his hand out for her, "Now I want to head home and take a good hot shower, and eat. We can figure out what to do next after that."

Roni said nothing and didn't move for a moment, and then she slowly sat up, took Ix's hand and stood. "That all sounds really good to me," she said tiredly, suddenly overwhelmed with exhaustion and fatigue. "Where are we going?"

Cirzel glanced around to try and get his bearinga from th beach. But once he had caught sight of the volcano it wa an easy matter. "North west of here, a bit into the jungle," he pointed in the direction, begining to lead the way.
