Strips smiled when she started eating the other half, and by the time she was done he was chuckling. He didn't care that she had eaten the whole thing; he had told her to and he would live. And the way he figured it, it was important for her to keep up her strength because there would be no way he would be able to carry her in the heat, assuming they would walk in the day, that is. He wasn't sure what their game plan was. He was good either way. On the one hand, it was cool and comfortable in here, but on the other, the sooner they left the soon they would get to a village. He closed his eyes and rested the back of his head against the wall again. "Let me know when you're ready to go."

"Well, it's noon now, so we'll be cooked if we try to walk out there, not to mention a large decrease in our water supply," she pointed out. "Let's stay till dark."

Strips gave a single nod with his eyes still closed. "That works for me." He might just even fall asleep in that time. He felt like he could at any minute, but something was preventing him from doing so. He opened his eyes and looked at her, smiling. "Come, sit, tell me more about yourself." He figured a conversation would keep his mind occupied and prevent him from falling asleep.

She pressed the tips of her index fingers together. "Well... I've never been any good at that. I'm better at answering questions than just bringing up something right out of the blue."

Strips chuckled, "Quite alright. I'm usually pretty good at coming up with something to talk about." He paused and thought for a moment. Normally he'd rather just sit in silence, but if he did that he'd fall asleep in seconds. "Well, I heard about both your parents. Do you have any siblings?"

((When did he hear about both her parents?? )) "I have a younger sister, Tes, and a younger brother, Darik," she answered.

((He asked about her mom, and then she told him that her dad doesn't know his birthday either. Geesh, keep up. XD))
Strips nodded, "Ah, so you're the oldest then?" He asked, but that was really a rhetorical question. "Oldest are usually the most mature; no wonder you were traveling the desert all by yourself." He paused and eyed her, another question coming to his mind. "Why were you traveling the desert by yourself anyway?"

She winced. She could hardly call herself mature. She then was quick to answer his question. "Well, it's kind of a long story..."

Strips smiled, "Long stories are always the best, and we've got all day. Please, go ahead.....Unless of course it makes you uncomfortable, and if that's the case then just forget I asked."

"No, it's okay. I just didn't want to bore you is all." She paused, thinking of a way to start. How had it started, anyway?? Oh, yeah - the homework assignment.... *********** It all started in class... Mr. Tupta was giving us a homework assignment. It was something stupid, like how to eat right or whatever. I'd just moved to Sahkmet, seeing as my owner does that a lot... we move, settle, she gets some money somehow, and then we head off again. Most we've ever lasted in a place was a week."

Strips blinked a few times before looking down at the ground. Okay, but that still didn't answer his question. He understood why she was in the desert if she had just moved here recently, but that still didn't answer the alone part. And why wasn't she in Sakhmet if she lived there? Why had she been in that oasis when he found her? He looked back up at her, hoping she wasn't done and expecting her to finish.

"I had to go home and complete this assignment. But I wasn't paying attention and therefore had no idea what to do with it. So I didn't do it..."
"Miss Zcyreit, would you be so kind as to tell the class why you don't have your assignment completed?" a cross Mr. Tupta asked.
"I didn't know what it was," the Gelert answered simply, "so I didn't do it."
"The entire class burst out laughing. It didn't bother me much, though. One assignment, right? Well, as it turned out, Mr. Tupta wrote a note to my owner, and made me take it home. I had to sign it and bring it in. Boy, was Cailel unhappy when I showed it to her."

Strips gave a half nod, but about this time he was completely lost. He couldn't understand how someone got from not turning an assignment in to being in an oasis. "Mmmkay" he said quietly, and continued waiting for her to finish.

"So we got into this ginormous fight," she went on. "It started out about just the assignment, then it got into how much I hated our constant moving. She asked if I'd rather go live on my own.."
"Well, I suppose since this family is SO awful, maybe you'd like to move out? Live on your own, hmm??"
"Yeah, I do! I'm tired of this crap! I'm leaving!"
She was storming out when her owner called, "All right then, but let's see how you like living on your own with no money. Sahkmet is used to beggars, and they won't make an exception for a runaway!!"
"So that's what I did. I packed some stuff and took off. I ended up leaving Sahkmet, planning to go to, like, Qasala or something, give her something to worry about, but I got lost and ended up at the oasis."

When Zcy was finished with her story Strips started chuckling. It may have been confusing at first but he was so glad he had listened; he found it to be incredibly humorous. It sort of reminded him of one of his past experiences...almost. "Heh, I can almost relate to that. I had to leave the house once, only I didn't actually leave; Anna kicked me out." He paused and shook his head, looking down at the ground. "But it didn't last long; only about a week maybe."
