((WHOO GO ULTRA!! My personal orientation... meh.. I'm straight, pretty much. I could prolly date a chick but the thought of doing anything is kinda ew to me xP LOL OMG! I understand perfectly! My male friends are just like that, and they're all straight, and most have girlfriends. Except worse, i think. xDD They sit on each other, grab each other in awkward places, kiss each other and all sorts of stuff. Real funny story 'bout that btw.. At homecoming my bestiest friend Kaleb snuck up on my boyfriend of the time and gave him the "fakeout makeout". Needless to say, my ex is extremely homophobic and was not pleased XDD;;;; )) Saluki wolfed down the rest of her food, looked around for more, then sat there twitching slightly with the sudden rush of sugar in her system, until the bell above their heads rung in a jarring fashion. She jumped to her feet as if she had been sitting on needles. "Come on, recess!" she chirped happily, tail wagging as she looked longingly towards the playground which was already beginning to fill with students from the lunchroom.

"You go," she insisted, her head hurting from all the noise. "I'll just hang here."

(Lol, i know. guys are weird. one of my gay friends acts straighter than all of them. the other gay friend is basically a girl... srsly.. i've known him since 3rd grade and he's always been that way xD)
Saluki frowned, the smile dropping off her face instantly. You could almost hear it 'plop' on the pavement. "Why?" she asked simply, eyes wide, glancing between the playground and Trei. "If you want to read your book you can come sit on the swings." she added hopefully, not quite understanding the idea of reading for personal enjoyment.

Trei looked painfully at the mass of kids swarming everywhere. Her eyes went to a pair of swings that were totally neglected, having been replaced by the monkey bars and rock climb. Finally she sighed, stood up, and said, "Ok, let's go sit on the... swings." She held her book in her hand, finger serving as a bookmark, and followed her colorful new friend to the abandoned playset.

"YAAAAAYYYY!" Saluki yelled, speeding towards the swings with her arms held high above her head. A few kids on the monkey bars and other equipment looked up at the sound, but then shrugged, giggled, and whispered among themselves, before going back to their business.
It was only Saluki, after all.
The gelert crashed into the nearest swing, hitting it with her stomach and flying in the air a bit before tumbling off. Without missing a beat she hopped back on the swing, almost in a manic attacking manner, than sat there with her legs flailing, trying to get it going, and kicking sand everywhere.

Trei followed Saluki at a slower pace, walking actually, and stopped at the edge of the sand to blink and raise an eyebrow at her friend. She was so loud and vivacious and didn't really care if anyone thought she was a dork.... the exact way kids should be at their age.
I don't get why she's hanging out with her, came a rather loud thought. Maybe it's not too late. She's probably too shy to come talk to cool people like me. Well, then, I'll have to go make the first move and snatch her up.
And just moments after that, Trei heard an "Ahem" behind her. She turned to see a group of girls looking at her. The one in the front smiled and said, "Hello there, new person. I'm Natalie. We were wondering if you'd like to play with us."
"No thanks." She could hear the vicious thoughts toward Saluki and other, 'unpopular' kids raging through the crowd.
"What?" asked Natalie, all the sugarcoating gone from her voice.
"I want to play with Saluki."
"But whyyyy? Saluki is a loooooser!"
"No she's not," said Trei boldly, "YOU are."
When Natalie started to cry, Trei turned and walked to the swings and sat on one, tossing her book aside onto grass. She looked over at the group of girls staring at her in horror, and suddenly, they all seemed to stiffen up and go numb. Then they picked up Natalie and ran off.

Saluki didn't even notice the drama unfolding before her, simply lost in her own world, happily swinging in the hot Lost Desert sunlight and kicking sand everywhere.
When Trei returned, however, she sensed something and looked at her face, a slight amount of concern resting in it. Seeing the fleeing girls, she waved after them, then regarded the xweetok, "Are you okay?"

Trei smiled at Saluki. "Yeah, I'm fine." She swung back and forth on the swing, going higher and higher. She tried to focus on the swinging and tune out everybody's thoughts.
It was really hard, but she felt really happy when she'd managed to make the loud buzz of thoughts a little bit dimmer.

((I know! *eyetwitch* xD))
Several minutes passed, and then Saluki jumped from her swing, flying in the air for a moment before landing with an awkward thud in the sand several feet away from where she was orignally. She stood up, laughing, then fell back down again, clearly not used to her long legs yet.
Without further ado, the gelert flopped on her back and waved her arms and legs, making a "sand-angel". She sat up again suddenly, as if gifted with a sudden thought, "Did you know!" she said excitedly, "In Neopia Central and other places... in the winter... SNOW comes out of the sky! I used to live in Neopia Central.. But i was just a baby..."

"I've seen snow," Trei told the girl, smiling slightly, still swinging slowly. "It's not that great. Mom and my sisters love the snow, but I... I guess I don't fit. But that could be because it doesn't work with my--" She stopped, and stopped swinging, too. Had she said too much? Was Lucy against talking about their magick?

"Really? It seems very awesome to me." she said, trying to brush sand out of her blond hair. "I like the sand too though. But it doesn't fall from the sky. Unless it sandstorms." She listened attentively to Trei, cocking her head, amber eyes widening as she suddenly cut off.
"Your what? Do you have allergies?" she suggested brightly, nevermind that allergies had nothing really to do with snow.

"Ummm, nothing," she said quickly, looking away and turning red. "Nothing at all."
There was a long pause, and then she asked quietly, "Um, Saluki? Would you still like me if I were a little, ehm, strange....?" She asked this, totally disregarding who exactly she was talking to.
