"Oh, okay." she said, though she still looked puzzled, and stared contentedly ahead. At Trei's question, she looked at her with sudden shock, face falling slightly, "Of course I would!"
She then grinned, "What can we all say about what's strange or not.. I mean, people think I'm weird... but the way I see it, I'm perfectly normal and they're the weird ones."

Trei smiled slightly, then took a deep breath. She said, "Well, see, I, uh, have magick powers." She winced and squeezed her eyes shut, ready for the enraged yells of "OMGYOUFREAK, GETAWAYFROM ME!!!"

Saluki blinked at her for several seconds, then shook slightly as if preparing to scream. Instead, she bounded up, screaming, "COOOOOOOOOOOL!!!" and started jumping around Trei excitedly, bubbling nonsense: "WOWYOUHAVEPOWERSTHAT'SSOSOSOSOCOOLIWISH
IHADPOWERSIWOULDFLYTOSCHOOLEVERYDAYORMAYBERUNSUPER

Trei was glad that Saluki was talking so fast that other people couldn't make anything out; they all thought it was a random buzz of noise coming from her mouth, as usual. But Trei understood every word (plus she had Saluki's thoughts to help her along).
Finally when Saluki took a breath, Trei said, "We have to go somewhere private, though. Maybe the bathroom?"

She then fell over from the exertion of such fast speech, then immedietly jumped up so fast she might have gotten whiplash, "Okay! Let's go!" She lunged forward, grabbing Trei by the hand and proceeded to drag her along.

Trei was dragged into the bathroom very quickly by Saluki. Luckily, there was nobody else in the bathroom, and so Trei locked the door and stood in front of Saluki.
"Okay," she said. "I'm not very good at controlling it yet, so be careful. My magick is that I can control fire a little bit, and I just learned how to do this." She flicked her wrist, palm up, and a small flame appeared in her black palm. It licked her skin, but she wasn't burned. She smiled slightly. "I don't get burned by fire, either."

Saluki 'ooh'd and 'aah'd over the small fire, bending down to put her face almost against it and going against some essential judgement when she attempted to poke it, but pulled away at the last second. After several moments of fixed staring, she straightened up. "That's so cool! And you don't get burnt either!" She started chewing on her thumbnail, and watched the tiny flame, fascinated.

"Yeah," she said. "This is all I'm going to show you, though.... It's probably not safe to do anything else." She closed her hand into a fist and smoke lifted through her fingers. She opened her hand again to show that there was no more fire.
"There is... one other thing I can do," she said slowly. "Right now. I may have more powers, but so far, there's only two I have developed. I'm still developing them and learning to control them, particularly this new one."

Saluki frowned a bit when the fire went away, but then looked up at Trei and grinned.
"what is it?" she asked in an exited, hushed tone.

"Well, it's really annoying, actually. You see...." She looked around to make sure there really wasn't anyone in the bathroom with them, then whispered in Saluki's ear,
"I can read minds."

Saluki gasped with glee, putting her hands over her mouth. "That's... so... cool!" she shrilled, taking a step backwards in excitement.
Her eyes brightened suddenly. "What am I thinking.. right... now!" She concentrated very hard on a lampshade.

Trei giggled, pleased with Saluki's glee. Saluki's thoughts were snapped into one thing, and it wasn't long before Trei said, "You're thinking about a lampshade?" with amusement. "Why a lampshade?"

Saluki gasped again, eyes wide, and then started clapping. "Yay! You got it!"
She grinned cheesily, "I'unno. My mom has a lampshade though. It's big and red and UGLY!" She started giggling, as if this was extremely hilarious, and then suddenly a loud bell clanged, and her face fell slightly. "Awww... Recess is over..."

"Heh, that's okay," Trei said in response to Saluki's disappointment. "Now you probably know why I was kinda cranky all day. I can't tune out other people's thoughts very well. I hope I'll be able to learn, because it's REALLY annoying and hard for me to focus."

"That's awful!" said Saluki, though her expression suggested she did not think it was quite that bad and would love to be able to do the same herself. She shrugged her narrow shoulders. "Learning isn't that hard... You just have to pay attention in class!"
The gelert nearly skipped over to the door, opened it, and walked out of the bathroom, holding it for Trei.
