"I don't think they have classes for what I want to learn," said Trei with a laugh, saying farewell to Saluki and heading to her next class.
Throughout that class, Trei thought about how lucky she was to have made a friend so quickly. She hadn't expected it, really. It was a nice surprise, though. She smiled to herself.

This statement completely went past the gelert, andafter staring blankly, she waved cheerily. "Bye! I'll see you after school!"
Saluki skipped cheerily to her next class, Social Studies. She too, felt lucky to have made a friend though more unconciously. In all her innocence and rather dimness she had considered mostly everyone to be her friend, moreso if they would atleast treat semi-humor her instead of outright ostracize the young gelert.
Class eventually ended, and Saluki was standing outside the school's entrance, backpack hanging off her shoulder, wating and watching the rest of the class filter by to enjoy the rest of their day.

The school day was finally over! Trei could go home and ask Roni if she knew what was wrong. Roni was smart. If anyone would know, it would be her.
She was walking out of the school when she noticed Saluki. She smiled. Her head hurt, so it was a weak smile, but she managed to force it out nonetheless. "Hey Saluki," she said, walking up to her. "Wanna walk home together?"
((let's say they're "conveniently" neighbors XD))

(('kay xD))
Saluki's amber eyes grew large, "So YOU'RE the people who just moved next to us?!" She did a tapping jumping dance in a circle with glee. "Sure! And then later we can do our homework and I can show you my room and my mom and my dad and my yard and my pet cactus..." She continued babbling happily.

Trei smiled, but she was getting a bit of a headache. "Sure," she said, "in a little bit. I'll catch ya in an hour or so, okay?" She went into the house with a wave, and locked the door. She leaned against it and slid to the ground. Saluki's thoughts were a light buzz that quickly faded away as the girl obviously moved into her own house. For the first time today, Trei's head seemed to lighten, because the house seemed a little quieter.
Then she heard Roni and Ara's voices. She moved in the direction of them and Roni, smiled upon seeing her. "Oh, hey Trei! How was school?" She put her book down and went to hug her littlest sister. Roni was eleven, which was four years older than Trei, and Lucy's very first "pet". She'd lived with Lucy for almost two years now. Though sometimes at night Trei could hear Roni's dreams in her head, and she could hear Roni was homesick for Ahsla, a place she denied missing during the morning. But Trei wasn't fooled.
"It was okay," she murmured. "I made a friend."
"Oh, really? How fun!!"
"They're our neighbors, actually."
"Even better! We'll go say hi later?"
"Yeah."
Roni grinned. "My day was good too. Ara's... not so much. She's upstairs."
Maybe they weren't voices Trei heard after all. She sighed. Roni cocked her head to the side. "What's wrong?" she asked.
And Trei burst into tears and spilled how she'd been hearing thoughts all day, and had been hearing them for about two months now, but school, with ALL those people, made it so much worse. Roni listened carefully, and hugged Trei and held her close, but she wasn't sure how she could help.
"I thought you'd be able to help me, but I guess not," Trei whined finally.
Roni was startled. Trei really heard that, didn't she? She saw Trei nod and that made her totally believe her 100%. "Well," she said slowly. "Maybe you should find someone else who can read minds, and have them teach you to drown them out and learn to use it how you want."

"Okay!" she said, before skipping inside, looking around curiously for her parents. The house was empty, and very quiet - though not a large place, the rooms seemed very airy and welcoming, as the walls and furniture were all very bright and nontraditional.
"Mom? Dad?" she asked as she bounded into the kitchen. There was no response, and Saluki shrugged, seeing a note on the table proclaiming that they were off on another archaeological dig and would be back around 4ish.
She glanced at the clock: 2:30. With a dismissive shrug the gelert bounded into the kitchen, grabbed an apple, and ran out the backdoor, planning on doing her homework on the porch.

After a rather painful half-conversation with Roni, Trei sulked outside. She had begged Roni to try and teach her, but the Shoyru protested with excuses like "I can't read minds, Trei. How would I help you?" But Trei wasn't stupid; she heard loud and clear Roni think, I can't handle such a responsibility, I have stuff to do!
"STUPID SELFISH PRINCESS," Trei muttered angrily under her breath as she kicked at a box lying around. She sat on the porch and sighed, and then started crying.

Saluki jumped to her feet, a suspicious noise. SOMEONE. WAS. SAD. And it was coming from... Trei's yard! OH NO! She dropped her apple and lunged over to the fence seperating the two yards, climbing it agiley to peer down into the yard next door, where she saw a very upset Trei.
She goggled at her for about a minute or so, then chirped, "Trei! What's wrong?!" as she said these last two words she leaned forward, and toppled over the fence and into Trei's yard in a clumsy heap of gangly limbs.

Trei looked up at Saluki and half-groaned. She wasn't sure she wanted to deal with such a hyper person right now. But she forced herself to ask, "Are you okay???" when the girl fell off the fence.

Saluki shook her head dismissively, or perhaps it was to clear it, as she had landed on it. "No." she said stubbornly and with much conviction, "Are YOU okay?" she began to wag her tail hopefully.

Trei frowned and more tears spilled out. "You know how I told you earlier that I can read minds? Well, I don't really have a choice........ I just HEAR what people think and I can't turn it off! I hear what everybody's thinking and I wish I could just turn it off but I don't know how to and I don't know anybody who can help me!!!" She started bawling again.
